Just like in real life, you do in your time what gives you the most reward. Let's say for argument's sake, you are running your own business. You have an income of $100/h. The office needs cleaning every so often. You could do that during the day, or after hours spending your own time in there, or you could hire someone at $20/h and get that done for you. Because your time is worth more than the $20 you'd be paying someone to clean up. Doing it during the day is bad business, because instead of gaining $100 for the hour it takes you to clean, you are not making progress.
So you chose what is good business.
For the same reason we don't mine water. Not even for those lucrative 1500t mined water missions that pay you an eye watering 3m credits.
No, instead we mine 1500t of LTDs and make 2b credits in the process.
Same time, similar effort, better reward.

Yeah... I see your point, partly...

ED is not RL.
With all the billions and FC, players still have to sweat mining tritium and transfer it from cargo to depot by themselves...
RL is so much fun than ED, at least in RL you can actually pay someone to do your chores ;)

Despite restarting steam, it is just sitting there pondering over the possibility of downloading the update... sooner or later, I suppose.

Oculus managed it after 20 minutes or so... perhaps I'll take a peek :)

That's moreso on Steam than it is Frontier, though; Steam's the one handing it all out.
If it matters, mine's going right now, ~161MB

Did you give the eggsploit one last shot? If that ain't fixed, then what would it matter?

So if the Egg is now gone, does that mean hotspots have been reset or the generation mechanism changed, or did they just change one Egg?

Haven't tested any Eggsploits, but it seems like my surface abrasion blaster isn't working on the surface deposits inside of this Void Opal core asteroid I found...

I'm in Shinrarta Dezhra doing methane clathrate mining of all things (they drove a truck-load of level 5 manufactured mats to my docking bay, I couldn't resist!) and I think I have more granditerite, LTDs and void opals than clathrate..
