Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update - Patch 4 Patch Notes

Deep space.
No other FCs.
FC just won't jump anywhere, aborts AFTER 16 minutes.

It started with that:

If it wont' work after one hour I guess I can rename my FC to "jump locked"

Eventually I managed to move my overpriced piece of scrap.
Here is the solution:

Yeah that looks pretty painful. The issue of tritium is now overlaps now. Tri1’s are back to prepatch 3 rates. Not buffed like patch 3 said it would do. Double and triple overlaps however are consistently showing Tri1 or barely better than Tri1 levels. This tells me FDev rolled back single tritium hotspots and never bothered looking into overlaps or that when adjusting tritium overlaps they found issues that would affect other stuff. So they rolled out patch 4 just to say “hey here’s some tritium now go away”. Doubles and especially triples are rare and should be something special not what we’re seeing. My opinion is fix the tritium hotspots back to prepatch 3 and then also increase “potency” allowing less tritium needed to jump. Or make carrier fuel scoopable. Players could then haul fuel from stars to carriers. Carriers shouldn’t be for solo play but players don’t want to mine for hours just to make a single jump. Just my opinion on how to fix it.

(...) players don’t want to mine for hours just to make a single jump. (...)

You misspelled HOUR.

ONE HOUR

is what it takes to mine Tritium for a 500 ly jump (200t).
Unless it's fully loaded with Tritium, than it uses more then 200t for a jump.
But then you don't really need to mine at all :)

You can mine 200t/h in any Tri hotspot.
Just focus on SubSurfaceDeposits, laser mining is less efficient for Tri.
Equip PulseWaveAnalyser and prospect only glowing rocks.

PS. Yes, it's still too slow/too low yields for quick long range travel on mining fuel only.
Only slow pace exploring with scanning a lot of systems between jumps allows reasonable mining/exploring gameplay time ratio.

Like I said just my opinion. FDev asked for feedback on this forum so I provided it. I don’t even own a fleet carrier I’m just helping out those that do have them. Mainly the DSSA.

Freedom of opinion - cool, I will fight for that, even for someone who has totally different opinions then me.

We still should stick to the facts.

And hourly mining yield is a fact, not an opinion.
It has some average value, that can be proven experimentally :)

Yes this is true. This is how we also know that overlapping is not even close to what it used to be prepatch 3 with laser mining. FDev needs to address the overlapping multiplier. They need to communicate to players more. I’d take a answer yes it’s broken (which they’ve acknowledged something is wrong with overlaps on reddit) and I would take a “working as intended” answer. I want them to address the players. It does no good for players arguing amongst themselves on which mining method is currently working best. FDev will ultimately have the final say. I’m glad you find SSD mining enjoyable. I do not. Simple as that. So right now I’ll deal with inefficient mining but I won’t stay silent towards FDev about the issue.

OK, so you didn't misspelled "hour", only there was missing "LASER" before "mining for hours for a jump".

Now everything is OK, your opinion is valid.

BTW: It took me 10-12 hours to evolve from "hating SDD mining" to "enjoying it".
Give it a chance, you may be surprised.
You need to use vertical thrusters a lot though, so re-mapping controls may be very useful.

Actually I like it more than laser mining now, because it's not that mindless and passive ;)

But, this is only an opinion, so no argument here.

Oh, one more small "problem".

FDev needs to address the overlapping multiplier.

They DID, and this is the core of current problem.

In patch 3 they simply broke overlapping.

In patch 4 they ALMOST managed to achieve THEIR goal - they have mentioned multiple times, they want overlaps to be not (much) more efficient thent centers of hotspots.
And they did it correctly in SOME cases (e.g. for Painite)

Tritium is still funny though, it seems like patch 3 "fail" is still lurking in Tri overlaps - triple Tri hotspots have LESS average percentage content then double - so there is STILL some major flow in math tuning resulting in some threshold in overlapping, that when exceeded instead of increasing yields (at least a bit), "burns it down" a bit.

But, this is noticeable mostly in statistical analysis of "research style" prospectors runs (full cargo of limpets and prospect as much as possible as close to drop point as possible).
In mining there is no major difference between Tri2 and Tri3 usually.

So, the point is - there is NO problem - from FD point of view.

They have reached their goals.

So, unfortunately "FDev needs to address the overlapping multiplier" is a non-issue for them.

I’ve given SSD mining a fair shot. I simply don’t like it. I prefer mindless passive mining. I will let FDev tell us it’s a non-issue. You random player do not get to determine wether or not a opinion of another random player is valid or not.

(...). I will let FDev tell us it’s a non-issue. (....)

But they already have.

In their stream - as someone mentioned here already, they simply answered "leave FCs in the bubble" as an answer to the whole "Tritium scandal".

And... I sense some anger directed to me.

There is no need.

I am only the messenger, I did not create all those facts.
I just happen to know them.

Only anger when you try and say if someone’s opinion is valid or not. CM’s were also directing people to this forum in an interview to voice opinions so please feel free to voice yours but do not silence others or try to say their opinion is valid/invalid.

LOL.

I ONLY referred to one tiny detail of your original post as "not true" (mining for hours for a jump),
and only because you were not specific when you wrote about "mining", while you really had "LASER MINING" in mind.

I was even elaborate enough to explain difference between "opinion", and "fact".

And you still seem to stretch this one tiny remark as "silencing your voice".

Isn't this a bit too dramatic?

I don't know if it's more amusing or depressing :)

Whatever the fix is I hope they work it soon. In Colonia right now and there are no stations to buy Trit, and it still takes too long to mine if you can even find a decent hotspot. It took 3 hours to mine 250 tons at best. That was combined mining btw; laser, surface and subsurface.
