Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update - Patch 4 Patch Notes

don't say it out loud, nerf hammer incoming ;)

But it is too lucrative...
...when we put rewards for other activities as background :)

Of course I am more for buffing all other "underpayed" activities, especially the ones that require some skill (like AX combat) , then nerfing mining to the ground.

Just don't have enough time to do that unfortunately, plus at very best 200t/h, (more likely 75t/h as a newb to SSD), means I just can't muster the enthusiasm.

I totally agree that Tritium mining yields / FC fuel usage ratio is absurdly low.
I just remind, that it has been to low from the beginning, so getting stuck in the deep is not really a matter of bugged patch, but intentional design.

With the exception of commanders how don't have SSD launchers onboard, but I will restrain myself from writing what I think about THIS to not offend anyone.

Hi all,

I'd just like to draw your attention to the edit in the post:

Due to an issue found during testing, the date of this patch has been moved to Monday 3 August. It can still be expected at 11:00 UTC with an estimated 15 minutes downtime. Thanks for your understanding!
Ordered a carrier jump to a triple LTD hotspot to see what any changes tomorrow would do to mining there, logged out and (after fifteen minutes downtime, I'm sure you understand the necessity for that) read your post.

Oh dear. Can I has my Tritium back, please?

No, it's fine. Better right than tomorrow.

Sorry, can't resist ...

It wasn't just LTD and tritium. Yields for EVERYTHING are broken; try finding void opals in a void opal hotspot. I have two sites that have always been VERY productive and it took 4 hours to pull about 38 tons of VO, 26 tons of LTD and 83 tons of tritium out of that spot, and I burned through 192 limpets; all I found in abundance were water and bromolite. In the past, without respawning deposits, abrasion blaster bugs, etc., I was able to fill a Python with 200T in about 2 hours. This, in spite of the fact that single hotspots were supposed to get IMPROVED yields. They didn't just break a couple of commodities, they broke one entire form of gameplay: MINING.
This is because FDev made a fundamental flaw by making the fuel for FCs minable.

Without a total rewrite of the base code there is no way to seperate the mining mechanics for different commodities.

They had to make tritium extremely easy and abundant to mine to satisfy the explorers who wanted to take their FCs out of the bubble for extended periods. Unfortunately this meant that LTDs also became extremely abundant and easy to mine.

So they nerfed it. To the point where it is impossible to mine anything.

Now we're up to 2 betas and 3 patches where they are desperately trying to find some compromise between exploring, mining and trading.

They could have avoided all this by simply making tritium scoopable and introducing a new module which scooped tritium from stars and put the damn stuff in the hold rather than the fuel tank. They could even have made the GalAv cost of tritium nearer that of hydrogen fuel so that explorers could fill up with 20kt before setting out.

They're not going to admit they made a huge and fundamental mistake so we're just going to have to live with a game which is broken for 3 of its core activities.

While I'm as disappointed as everyone else to hear that the patch is slipping, I'm personally glad that FDEV is taking its time to make sure the fix (1) actually fixes the problems identified and (2) doesn't introduce more bugs.

I can dream, right?

Your dream is my reality :sneaky:

And lol at idea that FD could "find out" about credits rate per hour from forum.
You know that game is sending a lot of data about your in-game activity to the servers and FD has access to logs? :)

Update - 28.07.20

Due to an issue found during testing, the date of this patch has been moved to Monday 3 August. It can still be expected at 11:00 UTC with an estimated 15 minutes downtime. Thanks for your understanding!

Greetings, Commanders!

We're pleased to confirm that the patch described in our Known Issues post from earlier this week is expected this Wednesday 29 July at 11:00 UTC with an estimated 15 minutes of downtime. Please find the Patch Notes and Known Issues below:

Patch Notes

Mining
  • Fixed an issue whereby surface deposits created after cracking a motherlode would flag themselves as depleted
  • Fixed issues related to diminishing returns for commodities in overlapping hotspots

Crashes and Stability
  • Fixed an issue where loading into an instance in a system with a large amount of Fleet Carriers would cause very long load times (potentially long enough to cause a disconnect)

Fleet Carriers
  • Fixed an issue which stopped Fighters being restocked from a Fleet Carrier
  • Fixed a number of issues related to Fleet Carrier positioning:
    • Better enforcement of the 16 carrier limit per body
    • Preventing departing Fleet Carriers from taking up one of the 16 slots from the body they've just left
    • Further work to ensure Carriers are positioned away from other nearby body sites, such as other Fleet Carriers

Known Issues

Fleet Carriers
  • When opening the Fleet Carrier naming pop up in the Livery, an additional unwanted character will be added to the start and end of the name. These characters will need to be manually deleted to prevent them being included.

Please note that the above notes are liable to change as adjustments are made and changes are added or removed. Tweaks may be made up until the time of launch.

Thanks as always for your continued feedback!

yeah, almost 2 months, 2 betas and 4 patches, hundreds of reported bugs, and only about 10 phrases and / or fixes and dozens of paint jobs.
xDD

Every time, you get better, FDEV. xD
Hear or read us? come on man.

I agree.
Let's make ED great again.
Make it a pay-to-play game with a yearly subscription fee.
It will solve a lot of problems
  • constant money flow to provide funds for proper maintenance that ED deserves
  • too many FCs in some systems
  • amusing posts like "I have payed for the game so I have demands" from people who have bough Ed and Hor. on sale for $15 each 5 and 4 years ago,
effectively paying about $0,60 for each month of gameplay :sneaky:
