fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

Every time FDev teases us with "extra" footage from some third party game magazine or a channel , where they will feature ED, it always turns out to be a huge g waste of time. I won't fall for this trap anymore.
Super disrespectful to my time. I had to suffer thru trashy boring games just to watch a 1 min short clip of someone talking to an NPC and then walking to a hanger. I feel like GameRadar knew that 90% of the viewers were looking forward to just watching the ED clip, and will probably leave right after it ends, so they purposely put it at the end, making us watch all that repulsive garbage for almost an hour.

now, regarding today's clip of "starport walkthrough" , I don't want to judge too early but I was SUPER disappointed at the end where the CMDR just teleported to the ship. Again, I don't want to judge too early but it does feel like classic Frontier where corners are cut left and right. I just find it odd that FDev couldn't create a simple animation of the avatar walking up/down a ladder or something, but to give us the ugly boring teleport UI fade screen is disappointing to say the least. I have a very little faith in this "Neil Armstrong moment" they talked about. RIP immersion.

Not sure this feedback needs it's own thread but I am pretty sure you can get a refund if you bought it already, since you can't have used it yet :)

Or, don't buy it if it's not what you are looking for (or wait & get it cheap on sale in a few months if you like). I have no interest in the walking about on planets beyond it being an alternative to the SRV but there's other stuff I am interested in (more planets to land on, more things to find).

Hopefully there will be something for you in there too :)

It's the same "transport" technology from the USS Enterprise, circa 2200, don't fix what isn't broken.

"Beam me up, Scottie!"

It's all a make-believe game, some less, some more "believe".

My favorite aggravation is the "space friction" that slows ships after boosting. I came to terms with that one long ago.

Or you could have just waited a couple of hours after the broadcast and just watch the relevant bit on YT..

Only got yourself to blame there I'm afraid. I didn't watch that, I waited for the relevant bit to come out on YouTube, which it did.

As max said - just wait for it to go to YouTube. Which in this case happened about 5 hours before you posted this.

You don't want to judge, but you just did :)

Ah well...

The teleport was a bit disappointing that being said I won’t judge at this point, let’s test it, give constructive feedback and seen what happens.

I know many players from the the FPS community and this is normally how you transfer from foot to ship, car, airplane you name it.

just take ArmA as an example.

The downside is that the next DLC after Odyssey is going to require Odyssey, just as Odyssey rquires Horizons. That means, even if you don't want Odyssey's content, you'll still have to buy it if you want what comes after it. Sadly, that means FD can make a DLC that is a total piece of garbage, but you'd still have to buy it once the next one comes out.

In most other games I've played, each DLC, that you have to pay for, is self contained and doesn't rely on other DLC's to work. That means you buy only the content you want.

Can I haz your stuff on the way out?

I won't go drama queen for that but, yes, the GameRadar ten seconds (barely) worth footage of an already known feature was kind of a trick.

ArmA 3 does this very well I think - a short canned animation of getting into the helicopter seat/scaling the plane ladder etc - they only last a second or two but it’s much better than an instant transition.

Hopefully the blue teleport beam is a placeholder until future expansions - I was hoping at the very least to have something similar to the SRV, ie. start on our ships and descend down to the surface.

Yes, i really hoped they would at least made us climb the stairs!

Imperials won't climb stairs - they'll have escalators
The stuff FD didn't show:

I don't mind the fade to black, but the transition could have been at the top of the boarding ramp of lift. When getting to a new planet for first foot fall it would be much better to step out on to the planet than just appear. Shame!

Half baked like every other update, they have a reputation of poor implementation to uphold now.
