for people that re-outfit ships -- if 10% penalty for compoent sale is implemented, which profession are you going to stick with?

Conduct you outfitting in Li Yong-Rui (CEO of Siruis Corp) controlled systems and get 15% off.
No loss in refitting.

Think I'll sell my my multipurpose ships. I refit them a lot depending on my mood. So Id better off with dedicated ships.

This makes me sad.

I'm going to have to use my Anaconda for trading, Python for combat and Asp for exploring. I prepared a Clipper I had sitting around for mining. Was going to use my Anaconda for that but.. won't. I have plenty of credits tied up in these ships, but I can't afford to change a single one of them (Asp excluded) if this change goes live (I have only about 35 million in cash assets).

I like to take my Anaconda into combat sometimes. It's slow, but man it's awesome. Especially if turrets truly works better in 1.3. I'll never know (or perhaps more likely, won't know until I've doubled my resources).

Uh. No. You lose 15% less, but you still lose 10%. So that 50 million item is 42.5 million. Loss on sale is 4.25 million.

You really dont need lots of credits to enjoy this game.

Although this is true, gaining more credits is one of the few true achievements currently in the game. Also you can't generalize and state that credits aren't needed for enjoyment without specifying "for me". For others, that's not true.

This makes me laugh.

You have an Anaconda (which you have the money to fit for combat from what you say), a Python, an Asp, and a Clipper - and you are worrying about money?

LOL... #firstworldproblems

I'll probably stick to trading/bounty hunting. That said, I really hope they provide a method to store excess equipment. I really don't want to have to pay a 10% fee if I'm trying to set up for something specific.

I've been giving this a lot of thought since the 1.3 beta rolled out.

Just like previous updates, there are too many variables to actually predict how things will go once it's released. That being the case, the only logical option for me is to move all of my major ships to Jameson and strip them down to bare bones. Having recently made it to Elite trader, i was planning on working on Elite explorer next anyway.

With everything I own bigger than a Sidewinder parked and stripped, I'll have a ton of credits and I'll be ready to go on an extended exploration run while the dust settles. Once I get to Elite Explorer, I'll only have Combat left to finish triple Elite status, and by then the full impact and final adjustments to 1.3 should be history.

Sounds like a plan...

but with almost 40 ships - not an easy one to get done.

You'll one day discover that the only way you can get an Anaconda, a Python, an Asp, and a Clipper is by worrying about money. :)

In this game, time is money and crime is money. ;-)

Its not a big deal for me as I keep my ships, so i have an Asp for exploring and Dropship for combat + dozens or smaller ships dotted about with various configurations.

As a ship collector who is aiming to own all ships the 10% won't change anything for me and I will just hop into the ship which is suitable for whatever I am planning to do.

just stripped my conda and parked it. After 1.3 hits, if the 10% resell penalty goes live I'll just refit my conda for trading. Buy a small cheap throw away ship to try out mining. If i like mining then buy a conda and fit it for mining. And probably buy a third conda for combat. Or just wait and see what the federal corvette has to offer in terms of combat.

cant see it being a big deal for me either, I have multiple ships and 10% is nothing tbh

accept you can go by and equip a viper or cobra or t6 without thinking twice someone in the low end of the game (sub 5mil) does not have this luxury, I have about 50mil of clipper and about 10 mil in the bank, I stopped playing about a month or so ago to get a fresh perspective in anticipation of 1.3, not sure I will even start again now.

The Clipper should already be enough to enter high intensity Res sites and make about 1-2 mil cr. at ease.
Even better when participating in an community goal. That one you could also do trading CG missions.
There is plenty of earnings capability as the Clipper is already a very capable ship.
If you have to fit it out further it is not that much of a deal with the 10%.
I don't see why this would stop someone playing the game...

Exactly right.

The smart move.

ED is really all about credit conservation and protecting your assets. Failing to realize that dooms a player to wasting more time building credits when you could be doing other fun stuff.

I don't make my enjoyment of the game contingent on how many credits i have. Now excuse me while i get back in my Orca and laugh at all the peasants flying low-class ships like Anacondas. :D

Yup, before 1.3 hits I'm downgrading my Annie to 400t capacity ready to re-upgrade when funds permit to my 400t "trade tank" with A6 shields and A-class PP, PD and FSD. My vulture is close to how I want to fit it out - a bit of tweaking and need to make doubly sure I don't have any gimballed beams which I want to change to fixed before 1.3. The python is just a shell sitting waiting for combat fitout when I can afford it, so no issue there. Those three ships should do me pretty well for combat (of varying flavours/styles) and trading for the foreseeable. Mining and exploring are missing, but I'll worry about those when I need to. Worst case, an Asp and T7, respectively can probably do those jobs fairly well.

that sounds reasonable.. if I can't make up my mind by the time I get back in, I'm going to sell all my high cost, mission specific components (e.g., that $100 million fuel scoop). and buy back when I decide what to do.
