I did sink more than 8 weeks into Elite, so it can hardly be said that i didnt give the game a chance..
You realize you're talking to a lot of people that have played for nearly 18+ months, right?
So ... expect some smirks.
I did sink more than 8 weeks into Elite, so it can hardly be said that i didnt give the game a chance..
I think you might be exaggerating a bit.. 500 tons?
I've been doing a bit myself and mining is massively improved from its initial implementation.. You just send off yer prospector, drop some collectors and fire the mining laser.. If you think thats bad you should have tried it when you had to manually scoop everything..I don't mind it at all atm, something different to do and I like watching the little limpets flying about.
Still, be nice if we had a player market where we could buy and sell some of this stuff. It would allow people to avoid some of the things they don't enjoy so much.
i had a similar experience with Eve Online before, but that took more than 8 years to reach the same point. ED didn't take even 2. And i sadly have to say that Eve even now is the better core came and always will be. .
I played Eve for over ten years... it is not nearly as entertaining as Elite, if you want to really give it a go, spend 18 months and then write your opinion. The simple point of sitting inside your ship to fly makes all other aspects irrelevant ... sigh ... cheers
I can not target the roids in before and see what they do contain, i can not use my mining lasers to just mine the stuff and have it dumped into my cargo and i most of the time dont even have a scale for the distances inside the asteroid belt because everything looks the same, no matter if close or near.
If u want mining, try Eve Online. Their system is lightyears ahead of what ED has to offer. Mining in ED is not time effective and tentious. Not to mention that my collectors allways seem to ram into something and expire. I'd realy like to get some Eve Online like mining drones with shields and collision prevention system that dont smash themselves to death all the time.
They have requirements, part of the requirements is adding variety to the game by encouraging players to try things out. Mining 500T of ore really isn't any more time consuming than 1mil of combat bonds or collecting meta alloys from Maiathey could have made them all unlocked from the start but they are trying to eek some gameplay out of the whole thing which requires hoops to jump through.
Eve is centered a lot around the big alliances and the 0.0 wars. I was there when MAX 1 was rolling through the north, i was there when BoB lost its sov and had my best time when BoB reformed as IT Alliance and stormed Fountain. I did take part in the wars that followed and the last time in 0.0 i was part of NC.
What stopped me from playing eve was more time related than anything else. But if u have time to spare, it is a great feeling to be part of a thousands of players coalition storming against another in epic fights.
8 weeks in game time? Think outside the box
I just had to register and post how I hate this community. What a bunch of fanboys. I won't miss you.
You do know that doesn't work?
