Formidine Rift... what is it?

I'm 4.000ly from Riedquat, but I don't expect to reach the Formidine Bridge until Tuesday/Wednesday due to limited time. How many are we heading towards the Rift or are already there? Feel free to add me if you like.

5 of us out here now I think plus two more on the way, will add ya shortly.

My intention is to cross through the bridge and head into the Rift from behind. As it's quite a detour, it will probably still take me quite a while to actually reach the RR line again.

A friend of mine, CMDR D1E3ASY, just returned from Beagle Point. He's turning in his cartographic data now and will be looking for Jumponium mats next, I've already got plenty.

We then plan on heading out there. Not sure exactly when or which 'target area', but Soon!

When I'm back on I'll add you guys :) I finished my playtime at a dead end, 37ly 'conda just couldnt make the jump. Gonna have to back track a little ways and try another route after work tomorrow.

I'm on the edge of the rift right now, feel free to add me. Has somebody explored Rho Cassiopaea now?

Hi! Nobody has posted here that they have. Hopefully it hasn't gone supernova yet!

Someone posted something about not being able to get closer than 264ly but there are stars closer on the Galaxy map so I'm not sure what all that was about.

Good luck! Was hoping to get there first myself but I'm still hunting the last of the polonium I figure I'll need.

I believe Leut posted a couple of pages back that he had been there recently.

Thanks guys, I need to find one more pollonium otherwise it will be a one way trip :)

I almost made it.
I have a 30+ ly jumprange and Drew hinted that anyone could makee it in a 25 ly range, so i scipped it then :)

You can make a 30Ly jump in a ship equipped with a 25Ly jump range. You just have to fly toward the system for about 24 hours in supercruise which is enough to close the gap by about 5Ly. Then you can make the jump... assuming you still have enough fuel after flying in SC for 24 hours...

Hang on, so that actually works? I thought the jump was always calculated from the center of the system, regardless of how far you supercruise, but I never tested it conclusively.

It doesn't work unfortunately.

Could be, don't know. But even if so, fact is that jump range increases with less fuel in your tank. :)
Again, it should on paper but it doesn't actually work in-game (for increasing maximum jump range).

Rubbish if you ask me.

I hope drew wasn't just saying that the actual rift is there in game.
It would be nice to know if there's actually game content to be found. Just a yes or no would do.

I've had to go back to the bubble to get a stripped down conda. I'm 3k ly heading back to the rift. Depending on game time I'm hoping to get back to the rift by weekend. I'll probably get there sooner.

ya I like this one
rō C ... Rho Cassiopeia ?
.. fingers crossed :)

That was the idea. Pluss, it is sort of in the right region.

The problem is that Rho Cass seem to be impossible to reach. I don't know if it's even doable in a 40ly Conda with max jump boost. In either case, that doesn't fit well with the story. It should be reachable with a shorter jump range.

That leaves us with two options.

1. The most likely, but boring explanation. Rho Cass. is not a target in the search for the rift.

2. There is a way to hype jump via uncharted systems. There is a way that no one has found yet, to spot the location of gravity wells that are not on the GalMap. This fits the story and the hints, but we have no in game indication that it is possible.

Drew's hint: 'Whether it is found or not depends entirely on who goes looking' makes me think this may require some personal skill, like when the UA Morse code was discovered by Jmains and QorbeQ. Kahina seem to like concerts and musical soirees. Perhaps it's some kind of musical skill?

Back on page 27, just a few days ago, Drew posted a twitter message stating "you don't need Horizons to discover whatever this is". Whatever is to be found, hasnt.
