Nice way to goad me forward! I just finished "Elite: Reclamation" on Audible and must say... I'm ordering the hard copy! Very well written.
Glad you enjoyed it - and thanks!
Cheers,
Drew.

Many have gone looking and the Rift has been explored in part, however I'm not aware that anything significant has been found yet.
Cheers,
Drew.
Are you still looking for this?
Some have suggested, thanks to a cryptic hint from Drew, that we need to fly toward the core... which doesn't really seem to add up.
No, that doesn't make much sense at all. And he didn't really say we need to fly to the core, just to, "consider the core of the problem". Would another way of saying that be, "heart of the matter"? The Heart and Soul nebula sits near the edge of the Perseus arm. And that is where most suspect the rift is, between the Perseus arm and new outer arm.
I just started an expedition in that direction yesterday. Between Drew's comment about the core of the problem and his cryptic series of punctuation, I am of the mind that the R-R line was either a basic signpost, and the part of the Formidine Rift we should look at lies on a line from NGC 7822 to the Heart Nebula and beyond... Or maybe we are overthinking it and the Formidine Rift is actually just the part of the Perseus Gap that is intersected by the R-R line and a line between NGC 7822 and Heart Nebula.
I'll tell you what is weird tho. I found ONE other reference to the Formidine Rift and that was a small post in the comments of kickstarter by John Harper author of And Here the Wheel. He states:
- Just realised this was still an active thread! Whoops! I'd started plopping thoughts over here.
- Checking on Drew's twitter again, he yesterday confirmed: You don't need horizons to find whatever this is. (src)
- Another thing I noticed was that there was a lot of speculation about the `EB, P`, `RO, C`, `.,.. ……,. …` clue, but I don't think we've resolved this yet. As far as I can tell, we assume it means "Eclipsing Binary, Period". And maybe also related to 10.
- and just to re-link some things I think are still relevant: Drews Clues and discussion about this in the big UA thread.
Heart And Soul nebula is widely understood as the near edge of the Formidine Rift.

This web link will lead you to maps and vital info you will need. I am currently in the NGC 7822 nebula searching for polonium for Max FSD boost before heading across the rift. I tried last year but had to turn back due to lack of scoop able stars in the rift, I'm going to try again with FSD boosts it may be possible but I need lots more FSD boost materials or I may just take the Formidine bridge which has been mapped out to the Bovomit badlands.
May see you out there Cmdr, don't underestimate the rift!
The quote of her view of the galaxy was the reason I aborted my last trip to the Rift. I was reading reclamation in the way and that quote made me realize that we still miss important clues, even to pintpoint the Rift in itself. As soon as I'm back from this trip I will join any ongoing attempts, as I see this is picking up strength again. That's the solution I'm leaning most towards, but I didn't want to discount other possibilities. Unfortunately you won't see me there, I'm on the XBox. But I think there may be something there within normal jump range. And if not, I'll get as close as possible to anything I find and I'll post up the system I wind up at.
Also, two other things. As for the string of periods and commas, I think that isn't a map or a representation of a system. I think it's the NGC 7822 Nebula as seen from whatever it is we're looking for. And the other thing is, I've been thinking about the old pilot's clues about where the Formidine Rift is, or where she was in it. Is the audio from the vid above word-for-word with what she says in the book? (I'm ashamed to say I have not yet read it.) If so, then I think our target lies much higher (or lower!) off the galactic plane than the R-R Line, because she says, "You can see the whole galaxy just hangin' there..." Seems to me she literally meant the whole galaxy, not just the band we normally see.
