FORUM METAGAMING IN PROGRESS

Not for the first time I am left wondering why FDev doesn't institute the watermark they have in the Planet Coaster forum.

On the PC forum, if your forum account is linked to a game-owning email address, then you get a 'game owner' watermark on every post you make.

I have long felt that this would be sensible in the ED forum.

LOL. I remember when you joined, though. It was in the first few months after game release, I think, part of the first great wave of post-release purchasers joining us folks who'd been here since an earlier stage. I remember because I kept on reading your username as "ouroberos" - the snake eating its own tail.

As one of these "new accounts" logging in just to vote for open only PP, allow me to share why.

I simply do not care for the attitudes on this forum at all so prior to now I've never had a reason to post. This change will impact me a great deal since it means I will actually care about powerplay for the first time ever (if it goes through) outside of just getting modules. So I registered and posted my views.

You'll find that many of the other "new accounts" are doing so for similar reasons. You're not being meta-gamed. You're seeing people who do not care about the discussions on this forum coming out of the woodwork for something that impacts us in a positive way.

I'm a little bit confused.

Because someone is new to the forums, and/or possibly new to the game, and he is interested in a change happening means his opinion shouldn't be considered?

I don't like using forums. I made this account literally an hour ago or so just so I could check, read and possibly comment on some of these new threads that came up recently, otherwise I've been playing E:D since December '17. But just because there's a lot of people suddenly engaged in a thing you don't like and they do doesn't mean there's any kind of "astroturfing", "metagaming" or whatnot going on here.

If anything it alienates and insults people like us, like what I mentioned, who actually want to get involved with the game.


If I misunderstood something please let me know, but this is the vibe I got off this thread.

Im only about an hour ahead and catching up through the salt, but I have a feeling that frontier is gonna make powerplay an open pnly affair...welcome to to salt central, its a busy day here, the sun is not shining, the birds are all dead and if this happens, the silent majority will immediately quit playing the game and we are all doomed.

I think thats the gist of it...busy night, not many comedians here tonight, mostly just alt accounts by the look of it on a mysterious salt crusade trying to make this issue into something its not.

If my life was more fun than this, I wouldnt be here at all...I love the tears, logged in tonight thinking another night on the grind and lo and behold the baby rngeses gave the forums a whole new thing to fight over. Some of the replies are definately alt accounts, not sure whose though ^

True, the forums had gotten a bit dull of late. FDev really shook up the hornets nest with this one.

Its ok I can squeese in a skimmer mission with a couple wing missions later...no way am I done with the popcorn yet, this is the must fun the forums have been in months, they cant take that away from me...it would be a crime against nature...my nature...I quit...I hate this game yer all a bunch o noobs ^

How can I take a break from visiting this forum with such a delightful drama going on? FD please put forum mini games in to ED somehow - would add so much self writing story and characters...

I actually agree with them on this...saying that wont make me any friends but this aint a popularity contest...I think that as unpopular as it might appear, I think this is the right call. Im bein serious fer once...treasure the moment, they dont happen often ^

Its worse...its like that crisis only on steroids this time...real disaster stuff theres rage quitting threads, theres a huge population of non subscription playing console players on the warpath if the rumours are to be believed...

If this is FD idea of a practical joke, then ye...that gets a giggle...didnt see that one coming at all haha ^
