That's true, but it feels like "chaff" to distract us from the important things that are the reason that we have governments. They're there to do he things we as individuals can't do. I can't do anything about antibiotic resistance but the UK government can. It can fund research, direct the NHS to put in place procedures to limit the spread of resistance, it can pressure china etc to reduce use, it can pressure for reducing use in agriculture.Telling your government you are unhappy about some barbaric proposal wont take that much time, and its not as if we're spending 24/7 fighting the stuff you mentioned anyway. Not much the average person can do about antbiotic resistence or global warming, but this stuff is within your grasp.![]()
We need to keep up pressure on our gov for these things.
Bringing up fox hunting is an emotive lightning rod that keeps the electorate occupied and fatigues their attention so they become numb to more important issues.
I rarely read petitions to sign them a more because I get several mails and FB notifications a day on hundreds of different topics.
This is another one.
I predict that at some point in the next parliament a fox hunting related petition or protest will dominate a news cycle and obscure somethin much more important.
