Franchise Community Challenge Discussion

So shirt and shorts now (y)
I wonder if that 1st one wasn't a crash at all - depending on the exact nature of the patch, they might be forced to move everyone to the new version at the same time?
Maybe, but apart from the one that happened last, all have been linked to being paused. So, hard to say. I put detailed info in at the time in the crash report so hopefully they see something that helps them see a common theme.

Nursery working well with the 2 adults sharing the supervision, but there's always one who sneaks off!

Haven't proved it, but wondering if this helps allowing the 2 year interbirth period without waiting for the 3 years for the kids to mature?

Yes. If you move the cubs to another habitat from their parents, the parents will have another litter at the actual interbirth interval rather than wait until their cubs are fully grown. So snow leopards are one of those species where I have 2 habitats in a zoo and swap babies. Which means currently each pair have 3 litters before they usually reach 3 stars and I'll release them and replace them with a new pair (at least that's how it usually works out for me in this challenge).

Thanks for confirming (y)
And an interesting extra implication from that: other kids are fine; it's only their own kids that stop them getting amorous!

(and I'm now starting to get litters of 2s and 3s instead of 1s, so numbers are growing and I can release as soon as they hit the 3*s)

Nice, I've been getting litters of 4 or 5. Which is definitely more than I usually get. I put it down to a huge habitat, enough for a pair and the max number of offspring they could have before the first born matures. But only 2 litters, they might have gotten 3 but I released them before it got too late to do so.

Wow - but nice to know I can improve things a bit further
Think the main issue is still low fertility in a lot of cases - I've seen before that the maximum litter sizes seem reserved for 100%/100%
Can't be space issues in my case either; they've all got double their needs, except my nursery which is now up to 2 adults and 21 kids but that also still has space to spare for about 3 more

Actually the last pair have just had their 3rd litter of 3. The 4/5 may have been the Pallas in the same area of the zoo rofl.

Well, the next challenge seems easy enough as well.

Turn Around, Bright Eyes

Every now and then we….release 3 star Lemurs from our zoos! Don't hold onto them forever and you'll be sure to complete this week's community challenge.

And perfect as I had recently created a Madagascar zoo for the Zoolympics which I will probably remodel for the Madascgar part of my World Zoo, if it is still making good money rofl.

I've not got the latest DLC yet - I'm guessing that Safikas will count for this challenge and that they boost sharing bonuses for all Lemurs?

Yes, they definitely have an enrichment bonus with the lemurs. And I suspect they'll be a part of the lemur release, but won't assume.

@Xrystal Borrowing your idea for the open butterfly exhibits for the entrance to my new Madagascar Zoo - hope that's ok

Now just to get some Lemurs and Fossas in there too!

Thanks for confirming (y)

And the wording is a little odd with:
"every now and then"
"don't hold onto them"

Is that just flowery wording, or does it mean you can't release multiple at once, and that only 3*s count, with 4* and 5* being too late?
(should be able to answer my own questions by end of the day . . .)

4* worked for me. Just going through my Lemur populated zoos to see who I have I can get rid of for the challenge without gimping the groups.

So far ( will update this as I go )
Black and White Ruffled Lemur (3*) x 7
Black and White Ruffled Lemur (4*) x 3
Red Ruffled Lemur (3*) x 1

11 Released got me to the 2nd gold bar so maybe a small number needed or .. I'm one of the first to start releasing them rofl.

So looks like the challenge is just "Release Lemurs of at least 3*s" - the other bits are just misleading:
"every now and then" => "in one big clump if you like"
"don't hold onto them" => "keep them as long as you like"
:p

*Almost as long as you like, they get infertile after they turn 20 and then you can't release them to the wild 😏

"You are now useless - it's not worth the effort of releasing you to the wild just so you can enjoy life"
Yeah, right? 😬
Although when you think of it, releasing an elderly animal after it spent the majority of its life in the safety of enclosure may not be as joyful for this creature as we would like to believe. It would more likely be a terrifying experience 🤐
