The Alien Boneship was a change from other designs. It did look alien.

I'm cheating slightly, but this iconic ship is arguably the best of all time

And before you argue it's only from tv, there were two Dr Who films made in the 1960's with Peter Cushing. Dr.Who and the Daleks and Daleks-Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.
