Who was the idiot in that scenario?
I'm willing to bet that you don't see eye to eye with big game hunters, either, and find their sport distasteful. That's your perogative of course to feel that way, but even if you do it doesn't make the big game hunter wrong, or worthy of name calling. It takes all sorts to make the simulation tick, hapless traders, canny bounty hunters, cagey smugglers, cruel player killers, etc.
Videos like that, bitter recriminations on the officials, man, that's what those guys LIVE for. Every time a video like that surfaces, or someone starts a thread complaining about a gank and the community gets hysterical, they're empowered to keep it up. When you guys share your stories, the player killers take on the aspect of an urban legend, a boogey man to be feared...and as such, they are empowered to keep on keeping on.
Greifers make absolutely no contribution to the community, the bgs, or anything at all really. the only people that would like to think otherwise are Greifers and trolls.
And by doing that, they just entrenched further the other side, in their opinion that they want nothing to do with the perpetrators, leading to these OPEN-PVE request threads.
Well done Sirs, well done!
Out of curiosity, do you think these SDC people are upset about topics like this? Or you think they find it amusing to see so many people complain about a vid?
"But we'll get Open-PvE for sure when we keep complaining!"
"Yeah, and then noone will play Open except griefers!"
"Definitely! We really showed them by whining!"
"Ha, take that griefers!"

The people who really want a mode where their ship is invulnerable at the flip of a switch and want to see Gankers perma banned from the game are going to lobby for this mode no matter what happens in the game at present. They aren't going to be happy until all threat has been removed and they can play without having to worry about anything.
90k out of over a million is not a relatively large number, particularly as that is the membership not the active player Base.
Yeah, thats the spirit! Everyone with a different opinion is a griefer or troll.Oh wait! Maybe, you know, someone may find some amusement in overcoming challenges and being rewarded for improving their skills. If it weren't for 'griefers', trade CGs wouldbe just dull trucking.
I know it must be hard to believe. Feel welcome to call me names to if it helps you stay in your bubble.

They contribute as much to the overarching ED community as anybody. As apex predators, they have to train and practice hard, and delve deeply into all aspects of the PvE game in order to fund their extra curricular escapades, as well as engineer their killing machines. In general, your PvPers are more deeply entrenched in the inner workings of the game than anybody who isn't a PvPer, or at least getting prepared to be one. The only people who disagree are uniformed![]()

This is where you are wrong. It is not about having an invulnerable ship. It is about not having to play with people they don't want anything to do with.
Isn't going to happen though unless you guys are all given styrofoam packing peanuts for ammo when your hardpoints are deployed on a fellow CMDR, or your shields are otherwise invulnerable to fire from a CMDR's guns.
Nice blanket statement at the end there.
I suspect what you've said is true about some of the PvP community, but not necessarily of griefers a lot of whom seem to just grind out the known exploits from the glimpses we get.
They are often far from 'apex predators' - most of my encounters have ended with me flying rings around them as they're just relying on a big ship and engineers weapons for an easy kill.

The blanket statement being made is that they're inept, grinding and exploiting, as opposed to practicing hard and more fully taking advantage of the same ingame tools as everybody else. If you guys were all "flying rings around" the average PvPer, we wouldn't have this thread.
