I believe PayPal doesn’t conform to all UK regulations so some companies here stopped using them.I went and ARXed up yesterday, PayPal being my prefered option not being there was a pain, so I just used my debit card, just as easy once set up.
I have no idea why PayPal was dropped, I do use it just about everyware else, so it does beg the question,
What's the problem with PayPay FDev?

as it was multiple times extensively explained in here.I believe PayPal doesn’t conform to all UK regulations so some companies here stopped using them.
The is the most straightforward option. I have a credit card but rarely use it as I keep a reasonable savings account, so it’s usually debit card or linked ApplePay when it’s available. Not keen on insecure platforms like PayPal, closed that account years ago after a fraudulent transaction. I always wonder how people manage without at least a debit card with a Mastercard or Visa option - how do they book international flights and hotels, among other things?I just used my debit card
Not all banks everywhere hand out cards with Mastercard or Visa options (my banking card doesn't have the option, and I never did anything about it because I never needed it). On some, you just get V Pay, which cannot be used for online payment. Why? Probably because they want you to pay for your Mastercard or Visa option.I always wonder how people manage without at least a debit card with a Mastercard or Visa option - how do they book international flights and hotels, among other things?
I’m not familiar with V Pay. I suppose in these circumstances you could get a Mastercard/Visa credit card (doesn’t need a high limit), link it to your savings account and then just immediately pay off the charge from your savings account when you finish the transaction. That’s exactly what I do on the rare occasions that I use my credit card because I don’t like being in debt for even a minute. But I’m a bit OCD about that to be honest. Not all banks everywhere hand out cards with Mastercard or Visa options (my banking card doesn't have the option, and I never did anything about it because I never needed it). As I understand it: V Pay is more or less the bare bones standard in Europe for an internationally accepted (at least in Europe?) banking card. It used to be that normal banking cards here also included Maestro (discontinued) or Visa / Mastercard functionality, but some banks don't do that anymore unless you pay extra, expecting to get their seperate credit cards (which of course cost money). As I understand it, V Pay is being phased out in favour of Visa Debit, but they're saying that for years now. If that changes the usability of "standard" bare bones banking cards, I don't know.I’m not familiar with V Pay. Yeah but not every game is linked to Steam. I have four accounts; my main is my original Steam purchase, so buying ARX isn't an issue (yes I do use PayPal with Steam). I have a free Epic CMDR and two standalone Frontier ones. If I was actually really playing those alts anymore (don't ask) and would want to buy ARX for them, I'd have a problem.Steam Users do not need credit cards at all. You can buy Steam Gift Cards at your local shop or petrol station, enter the Code and buy ARX.

I assume you'd also have to have bought the game on those steam accounts to buy stuff through steam for the game.Have not done this, but as you can have multiple steam accounts on one PC, it should be possible to link your alts to an alt steam account (but don‘t know if you can unlink your epic to frontier and then to steam).

From the linked page:As I understood from linking my console trasferred Frontier PC-Account to Steam, every Frontier account can be linked to Steam (and still be used with the Frontier launcher afterwards).
From the linked page:
Note step one.
You have to have the game in your Steam library to link your Steam copy to a Frontier account. That account can own the game standalone, but doesn't have to. In theory you could probably keep unlinking and linking different Frontier accounts; I don't know what happens to ARX you bought on Steam when you unlink. Other purchases, like the purchase of Horizons or preorder of Odyssey that entitles you to the Azure paints and the Pioneer (?) suit cosmetic respectively, are locked to the Steam link - you unlock the Steam account, you lose access to those. Yes, I do own a Frontier account that owns the game standalone and is simultaneously linked to Steam, so source for that: Me.
Also ARX bought through Steam do not show up unless you launch the game once from Steam. Even if this linking juggle reliably works, seems like a big hassle.
TL;DR: Just having multiple Steam accounts won't do. The Steam account you link to your Frontier account has to own the game.
It is interesting that this works. How can you buy a DLC for a game you don't own on Steam?Yes, you are right. I forgot, that I had only Horizons after the console transfer and then I bought Odyssey on steam.
Oh it seems Frontier is giving out Steam keys again? I thought they stopped doing that. I just logged into the Frontier store with one of my standalone alts, and apparently I can generate a Steam key that adds the game to the Steam library. So creating different Steam accounts along with your standalone Frontier copy does apparently work? Who knew.It is interesting that this works. How can you buy a DLC for a game you don't own on Steam?
