Frontier Trading Statement & Roadmap Update: Elite Dangerous' next paid-for release targeted for launch at the end of 2020

In space, there is no noise.Your steps won't make any noise.
Remember, Mah Immershuun!!!! Else we'd have microjumps and instant ship transfer.
I would think your suit would produce sounds as it has an atmosphere. It might just be echoey or something. What would a suit atmosphere sound like as the clank of boots and electromagetic couplers stops and starts?

Actually sound in ED is done pretty amazing imo. When canopy gets blown and everything sounds nice and muffled, but in all other times our ship generates sounds as per lore

Stuff in ED does not have to be accurate, just a nod to it to allow for versimilitude

I think basically what they will do is remove the current base space flying game from sale and replace it with the new game which starts with elite feet in which it has many features associated with first person shooter style mechanics. It probably has some voice acted missions (we have seen these in hidden files) to guide the new starter along. They then can play a predominantly ground based multiplayer game . Players can at various points decide to take up space ship flying. Indeed the game would encourage them to do this through certain incentives eg access to high level weapons, rare items etc. Spaceship flying would in essence become end game content.

The first person stuff will improve immersion and make the game more accessible. Flying a space ship to different planets is an essential part of the game. The end game content is the Fleet Carrier (executive controlled capital ships) and other very expensive stuff that is only obtainable with enough credits and/or ranked up with one of the main powers.

Frontier would therefore sell "Elite feet" dlc for those owning elite dangerous base game already and wishing to upgrade. £35
"Elite New Era" for all new players £50.

Yeah there shouldn't be more than 2 versions of the game. Eventually most players will have Elite New Era by upgrading or buying the Elite New Era version.

While the sounds in the game are really well made, i admit that sometimes i would like to have a realistic sound mod available to try in Elite Dangerous.

A mod or an option would be cool but personally (just me of course) playing without hardly any sound would get old fast. I think the way it is done now is kind of a nice halfway house and also the logic of our ships computer filling in the sound groks ok with me.

The future for Elite Dangerous is also exciting. Frontier is developing a major new paid-for release for the iconic space simulation which will dramatically expand gameplay and mark the beginning of a new era for Elite Dangerous. This will be characterised by significant new features to appeal to existing commanders, whilst being specifically designed to be a compelling, attractive and welcoming entry point for new players. Targeted for launch at the end of 2020, this major new release on multiple platforms will fall into financial year 2021 (the 12 months ending 31 May 2021).

Would it be any character reset ?

It’s ok with me too. But imagine. You would still hear your engines and thrusters, and various sounds coming from the hull of your ship, when getting hit past the shields for example. Maybe you could have some audible indication that your shield generator is struggling to cope with enemy weapons when hit with your shields up. No star noises of course.

Don’t know if it would be better or worse, I’m just curious to experience it.

I am not buying DLC that costs as much as the base game its just not worth it in my opinion plus the game isnt good enough for me to spend that type of money on it .
Good thing is there is no more season model with unknown features so you buy it and get 💩.
This time it will be fully released dlc upon which you can decide to buy it or not.
I'll do it that way!
