90 known issues that wont be fixed before june, its not necessarily the next update that is broken, its this one. Horizons should have been delayed.
No, no, no "we" don't, you paid for the game, which accessories you chose to play the game with and if or if they aren't officially supported, is not why you should be getting a game. What a massive slap in the face of both those who decided to go with the rift and those who forked out for a season pass with no content for half the season.
We deserve better than this FD.
The "or use Steam VR to hack" thing makes me wonder, because last I checked and saw video's not owning it myself, it was like....2 clicks? and then everything worked with steam vr? Seems like people are making a mountain out of a molehill.its not officially supported, you have to use an old runtime that works with no other games, or use steam VR to hack the current runtime to make it work. Neither of these options will work with CV1.
there are 90 known issues as of right now and none of them are going to be fixed before June. This should have been fixed prior to Horizons not being released, not 6 months afterwards.
Forgive me if I'm missing the obvious but I still can't see any official statement that confirms either this statement nor the subsequent conclusion that FD won't be supporting the Oculus. All I've seen is the announcement about the delay in releasing 2.1 and the following two statements on reddit:
.
Yep, FD just screwed the pooch again. Guess I'll be playing That Other Space Game sooner than I thought (My oculus should be shipping soon!)
They don't mention Oculus support anywhere in these updates...unless I am missing something...So we can't even say if it will be supported or not in that June update? Am I correct?
I hope Frontier realized that there's No Man's Sky coming out soon, and if they don't get their game straight with official Oculus Support they will loose a lot of players
Presumably you mean EvE Valkarie? since Star Citizen hasn't supported Oculus Rift since the DK1 and had very lackluster support at that. Even if RSI do support VR in the next three months I've seen no indication that they'll optimise the Alpha to get the kinds of FPS you need on current hardware.

Frontier have never promised Oculus support on launch. They updated us multiple times that they weren't able to support the more recent SDK's and that the situation hasn't changed. They intend to support Oculus if/when they can, but these accusations that they "promised" it are just weird and never come with citation.

The OP is presenting speculation as confirmed fact. Which it is not.
You're free to speculate, as we all are, but don't tell people this is so, when you actually haven't any more than a guess to go on.
Frontier could, easily, issue a "VR patch" or a "mission fix patch" any time between now and the release of 2.1. Nobody outside of Frontier knows either way.
I never said Frontier promised it...I don't know where you read that in my post , I am just saying that it is in their best interest. With No Man's Sky coming out in june this update might come too late...When you realize the price you paid for Elite + Horizon it's way too pricey for what we have now, No Man's Sky will do everything Elite can do and maybe more straight at launch ...
imagine if it was something other than the rift however..... imagine if ED did not work on windows 10. I am sure there would be a lot of people poking FD and hoping for updates in how it is progressing, esp if it HAD worked perfectly on the windows 10 beta![]()

Add to that that there are currently plenty of people playing with oculus without any issues last I checked that would seem to indicate that it works just fine?
Oculus made large changes in almost every version of their drivers, what oculus could easy do is make sure their release drivers will be backwards compatible, because its way way too much to demand that a developer reworks their code each time a peripheral product gets a change to their code, the responsibility of compatibility lies in the peripherals at least in my book, so why don't you direct your comments and wishes to oculus? that is where you can get something easily done because Oculus does nothing BUT create and edit their drivers, where Frontier's plate is full with a lot of other stuff.

you make very good points, however on this one, MB said yesterday no more updates till 2.1... sure, they could change their mind, but, a statement from MB is good enough to be taken as fact i reckon.
