Frontier...?

New forum page why....why is time being spent on updating forum page than looking into the constant issues & bugs with the game.!?

We all now know that updates wont be happening anytime soon, is frontier slowly closing down Elite, and continuing to not answer popular questions.
With new game development keeping frontier busy, Elite seems to be suffering delay and disappointment, and lacking any concentrated fixes to LONG term issues with the game.

I would of thought during this down time period upto 2020... That frontier would be fixing known and long term issues on mass, it would be the perfect time to down tools and group a dedicated Bug fixing team to go through every issue with the game...but will they.?

Anything Frontier does is going to be met with complaints that they've done that and not some other thing.

It's not necessarily a zero-sum game. It's actually surprising how many things in real life aren't. The game has bugs. No disagreement there. But as others have pointed out, not everyone working for Frontier is employed to do that work.

You might as well complain that their accountant just sits there doing sums all day while they could be debugging the game...

I'm sure I read somewhere that the forums were updated due to something being rendered obsolete. Pretty sure there would be at least a couple of complaints if this led to personal data being hacked.

Also, didn't FDev also post something about wanting feedback for the bugs we wanted them to work on? Doesn't seem like the sort of thing you say when you're winding something up.

There is an optimistic way of looking at Frontier's silence. Hello Games went completely radio silent after the disastrous launch of NMS. A year later (give or take) they released a huge update that addressed many of the initial complaints, taking the gaming industry by surprise. They have continued to do so ever since, the latest example being NMS VR which nobody saw coming (at least not on PS4). Perhaps Frontier is taking a page out of HG's playbook. Talk is cheap - I prefer results myself, so I welcome this "less talk more action" approach if that's what Frontier is actually doing.

Why not buy a new paint job while contemplating the DOOMedness of the game? "go on go on go on" as Mrs Doyle would have said ;)

"the people who fix the bugs are not the people who do the forum", tsk, tsk.

it's not about people but about will. they have plenty of people, they just don't give a damn and 'prioritise' other more lucrative stuff. is just work ethics are that low anb customers at large being apparently fine with that. times! now you know, op.

You're a bit late for April 1st there, bud. ;)

it's not about people but about will, in my view. they have plenty of people, I've just decided that they just don't give a damn and 'prioritise' other more lucrative stuff. is just work ethics are below an arbitrary standard I've set and in any case have no way to measure anb customers at large being apparently fine with that instead of getting angry like I do over things about which they have no objective information. times is my favourite font! now you know what I think about it all, op.
Finished that off for you, znôrt.

This is only partially correct.

For two years after the disastrous NMS launch Hello Games were effectively radio silent, only communicating through the patch notes for 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. Just prior to 1.3's announcement (1yr in) they indirectly ran an ARG that generated some media and hype, but those three updates' additions (base building, land vehicles, farming, story campaign) didn't keep players for long.

Only the Next update, bringing 4player co-op and released another year later, revitalised the playerbase for a while. Since then there have been a few minor updates.

VR is the next major addition (via graphics downgrades on PS4 for performance).

Well, since they have to be really good at sums - and programming is just numbers and logic and <redacted> they might do a better job at it (no offense fdev - just saying).

...those three updates' additions ([insert new ED features]) didn't keep players for long.

Only the [n]ext update, bringing [everything in 3.3] revitalised the playerbase for a while. Since then there have been a few minor updates.
Notice how easily it is to make your narrative fit ED.

Ironic, as I was actually trying to post something positive about ED, but in typical fashion ED's most ardent supporters have to tear down anything that is remotely seen competition. You in particular remind me of this quote, "He uses statistics like a drunken man uses a lamp post, more for support than illumination."

NMS devs running silent is down mostly to the nutcases who went internet mental when its release was delayed.
