Frozen windshild effect.... why o why FD?

I'd be glad to get rid of the constantly dirty glass in the cockpit. You'd think if they have the tech to travel at FTL speeds, build a galactic news net, etc... that someone would have figured out how to engineer a windshield defroster by now. Hell, I'd pay some transient down on his luck trader to come over with his little bottle of Windex and clean the glass while I'm in the bay unloading cargo. :D

That dirty windshield dont realy bother me too much.....but that new giant "spiderweb" when running cold is simply horable.

The glare is also pretty bad. It's like there's no Windex in this future, and whoever cleaned your windows left big ass streaks on it.

This smear is what I'm talking about.
Straight from the workshop but dirty.

... why were they cleaning it with their bum?

No, not dirty -- scratched from dust. surely?? It's realistic; though I'd ask why we would have visual viewing screens at all. Surely we'd have displays like the Starship Enterprise have?

Realistic or not, the "old" freezover effect was very nice, and It happened more often then it does now. Very "immersive" if you will.
The effect was more or less praised by almost everyone, saw lots and lots of people mentioning it in and out of topic.

I cant find any reason at all for FD to change a graphical effect that was loved to that extent.

actually only your helmet should fog up abit that's it.. technically only your breath hold moisture. Much like when I ride in winter my Helmet fogs up.

IMO the glass would quickly be completely abraded... which is why we would have view screens, or something similar :)
With the shields it wouldn't, but it would be close to one-hit-kill weakspot after the shields were gone, if the game applied that much realism.

This is a similar point I was making about Wear&Tear.. with shields up - there should be none.. nothing should get be getting through to your hull.

Shields down.. well now.. radiation, energetic particles, micro-meteorites .. sure that'll rip you up something horrible.

Yeah...so the new effect looks exactly the same. They just made the whites a little more saturated. Not as subtle. Someone got upset over this?

Exacly same? Dont want to flame on you but you have to visit the optician if it looks the same because there is an HUGE grafical difrence between those.

The old one looks like Icy window..... the new one looks more like spyderweb then ice.

Never noticed that the window is very dirty. The helmet glass, yes. Do a mouse look-around within a space station with bright lights.

Well to be honest, to have your canopy frozen there has to be some form of liquid on there to begin with, ie water. Since space is a frozen vacuum there is very little liquid in space

The freezing was always on the inside, with humidity in the cockpit freezing on the cold canopy window.

The liquid is humidity inside the cockpit, not outside.

Yes.

when you run super cold i recall it during the beta when i triggered it i haven't since

It's much harder to run this cold since Beta 3.

I say revert the frozen graphics (after seeing the video I went- "wow..")

..And remove grease/scratches from windshield when I spend money on wear&tear.
