FSD won't turn on

Hello. I have a problem. When exiting FSD, I missed the mission target. When firing from the FSD drive, the mission marker disappeared and there were no targets on the radar, but this is not the main problem. When I tried to turn on the FSD it charged but nothing happened. I canceled the task, set a goal to jump on a neighboring star, it didn’t help, the FSD also charged, but did not turn on. There were no error messages, had to self-destruct. For some reason the game froze after the self-destruction. DLC Odyssey. PS. sorry for my English

After the FSD is charged a jump starts when 1: your ship is aligned with the jump target, 2: your ship travels at maximum speed in normal space (or in super cruise: you have full throttle selected), 3: your velocity vector is aligned with the centerline of the ship. Did you meet these criteria?

Could also be a bug of course. Odyssey still has quite a few bugs.

Ok - no, I don't speak Russian, I used Google translate (but there's supposed to be a Russian speaking community around here somewhere).
So, first of all - FSD or Supercruise? FSD is for jumping between systems, Supercruise is for travelling faster than light inside a system. You say FSD, but your description sounds more lice Supercruise (SC).

In either case, though, you should be getting an error rmessage in the HUD stating why FSD or SC couldn't be initiated (at least in Horizons). In these cases, a screenshot would have been very helpful. But since you already suicided, that's moot. If you want to dig into what happened, your CMDR's log on your PC might(!) give you some hints - you can either check it directly in C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous (it's a plaintext XML/JSON file) or install one of the 3rd party apps that read and analyze this logfile, like EDDiscovery.

One thing - maybe: there are three possible commands/keys/bindings that could be involved here. Per default you have a common bind for both SC and FSD, and the game tries to decide which one to use (basically, if a FSD target is selected, it will try to engage FSD, otherwise, SC). You can also (manually) bind FSD and SC to individual inputs - that comes in handy in a variety of situations.

Maybe Mass Locked as well? I still miss that and I've been playing for years. Try to jump or cruise, get frustrated, start digging through my priorities to see if OC'd my power plant then notice that little blue light tucked away in the bottom corner. Also cargo, landing gear and hardpoints. I had to disable them deploying with the fire button because those damn things would pop out when I wasn't paying attention.
