FSS Question

It's a bit weird - like often there will be 2 stars and it will say 51% complete. Had a look at whether it was related to '% system mass', but it's nothing that obvious 🤷‍♀️

I always assumed the percentage was based on a heap of stuff, such as the mass, the type of body, whether it has surface POIs etc...

Basically, scan a bunch of barren, rocky worlds and it won't increase the percentage much.
Scan a couple of ELWs and moons that have surface POIs and it'll cause a big increase.

It's not really something I've bothered to investigate too deeply.
If I'm bothering to scan a system at all, I'll just keep at it until it's done. 🤷‍♂️

Can you show me an enjoyable way....

Kidding.

I haven’t started this thread for an argument, I have a genuine question and am happy for the thread to be locked once I have an answer.

I arrive in a system, FSS detects, say, 12 signals, 12 bodies in total. How is it when I have scanned 5 of them it tells me I’m 50% done? 5 is not 50% of 12.

Thanks.

Stars are automatically scanned when you enter a system. So a system with 12 objects has 11 'planets' and a star (assuming there is only 1 star). So scanning 5 + 1 star = 6 = 50% of 12....

I get that and I thought that had solved it but you can go into a system with 2 bodies, you automatically scan 1 and it says you’re 51% done.
