Fuel Dump Button Please.

Please can we have a fuel dump button.

Yes this gets asked a lot and no, we still don't have one. It was suggested that we can use a Rail Gun to achieve the same effect but you must go to an engineer to get the ammunition, magic spell or whatever to make it use fuel. I know that the mere mention of the wizards will summon the russian chat bots to derail the thread but hopefully this plea will be heard before the inevitable lock.

Come on, most of us remember syphoning fuel from cars for...er … emergency reasons. It's a simple one.... Come on..... please....

Agree. vRep+1.

Also, I'd like to be able to turn on/off any extra fuel tanks. So if I outfit my ship with extra 32T, but don't want it for certain parts of the trip, why not be able to shut off the valve for the refuel to it?

Another one, I'd like to be able to assign a button for on/off to any module in the ship, in essence, be able to turn on/off the fuel-scoop with a button.

Lastly, I'd like to be able to have exact tonnage of fuel on the GUI.

I can see the point of having an accurate fuel measurement but why do you need to dump fuel
When you're at the fringe/edge/top/down of the galaxy, as well as in the rifts, you have few stars and they're very far apart, your ship has a "max" jump range that you only can achieve if you have the fuel tank enough for a jump, but not more. In my old Anaconda that was around 25% full, then I got 62 LY. At 100% full tank, I only got 60-61 LY. There are times when you actually are trimming this out there on the edge. Even when using boosts.

You can control the amount two ways, 1) dumping fuel by using a rail gun that's been engineered for fuel slug upgrade, or 2) control your re-fueling scoop by turning the scoop on just long enough for it to fill as much as you want.

Yes please, I want to dump all my fuel into unscoopable stars in hopes of making them eventually scoopable with hydrogen boosts. It's my way of thanking all those stars for feeding me in times I would have otherwise needed a Fuel Rat to save me

I think it fine the way it is. It forces the player to choose. Players do have an option to jump from one system back to use up fuel.

if that were true, there wouldn't be a problem.
I never had an issue. But I find Managing fuel is part of gameplay. I have been playing since the game was released. There only a few times when I fill my tank to the max. Otherwise, I manage Max Jump range vs full tank.

And fuel dumping isn't fuel management?

Okay then...

It is only a problem in sparsely populated areas of space, like the edges, where you need to jump to a system but can only do so with a specific mass. To achieve that mass you must dump fuel. When you find yourself in this situation you will curse the mighty Zarqoun for a simple button.

It would make gameplay too easy. I can see it now. Everyone keeping the level low to get the farthest jump range.

Flying in supercruise for three hours is easy. Your point?

I have to be honest, most of the arguments against the fuel dumping idea aren't exactly compelling. I don't personally see any real reason not to add a fuel dumping feature into the game. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to implement either.

I am flummoxed to hear any argument against it. It's like arguing against oxygen.

So you want an I win button for the edge. That the thing the edge should be hard. Any stupid mistake will cost you. Sometimes even death. It requires careful planning.
