Future of Elite+Paid For Content

Before this forum was overrun by naysayers throwing a tantrum every 5 minutes they used to communicate more.
Well that's your assessment.. Not one I agree with..
Early on there was much to announce, but still there were criticisms of their communication.. Not going to go all hyperbole and quote a frequency of such complaints out of the air or question the traits of those making the complaint.. But they were there nonetheless..
Personally I don't believe FD let negative feedback, constructive or otherwise, decide their communication policy or content..

Yes, I get paid very very well and extra for being on call.

Someone made a decision to release and not support, and I'm pretty sure it was [edit] not one of the coders.

True, however the person who made that call would have no clue how to fix it. It's not exactly fair to punish the bottom rung with a reduced / no Christmas break when it's someone at the top dropping them in it.

As for whoever made that call to release the update without a delay of a single week to fix the mess before it happened, I'll just say prevention would have been better than any cure here. It should never have been released in the first place in this state, so anything after was always going to be a shambles. Glad I don't work with them.

There was lots of communication about the future goals and vision when they were trying to flog the LEP. Funnily enough Braben went kind of quiet after that. You get the occasional "but space legs is really hard" chat. It was all sales patter.

I guess we'll see mission packs as the premium content that was announced in 2017 + the next big expansion, either space legs or atmospheric planets.

I'd prefer Atmospherics, unless they rebuild the mission system, in which case, mission packs would do it for me.

Or a mission to an atmospheric planet that has 15 atmospheres of hydrogen sulfide gas to retrieve the wedding ring of some rich guy that's too chicken to get it himself but will be 15 million credits for someone else to pick it up for him. Oh, and guarded by some creature that looks like a dragon with titanium scales and a bad attitude. That wants to eat you. Which results in perma-death of your character.

I'd like to see an introduction to space legs like being able to walk around inside your ship, possibly being able to see your crew quarters. I'd also like to see those many worlds you can't land on made landable. Not the gas giants. You can find a rocky or ice world you can't land on right next to a rocky or ice world you can land on with similar gravity. Additionally, I'd like to see the percentages of materials you can gather on those worlds when you are out prospecting raised maybe one percentage point. Lastly I'd like to see a more dedicated mining type ship introduced. Not a fighter or freighter or combat. Something better suited, more designed with mining in mind possibly with something like a ship launched drone instead of a ship launched fighter that can go out and scan different rocks while you are mining so you have a better idea of which rock to go to next.

1st quarter 2019 FDev will release a teaser for the next expansion which will be either space legs or atmospheric landing or my bet both .

The expansion will cost £39.99 and release in parts throughout the year ,first part arriving around April.

My bets on a teaser arriving very soon as in January and the beta starting march.

Speculations are based on the fact they have been working on atmospherics and space legs from day 1.

Do you really believe they've been working on legs and atmo for half a decade? Really?

Yeah. Sure...

Doing space legs properly is like creating a new game. Half a decade is a perfectly normal timeframe to develop a game. And if they are working on it since 5 years it probably wasn't the entire team.

They can add space legs in phases. X4 has shown that even a basic iteration of EVA can make a world of difference with increased immersion and freedom of movement.
