Galaxy map routing too slow? Elite Copilot has quick routing and voice navigation!

I've tinkered a little with something that * could * be a fix. I think I'll just release it now. Let me know if it fixes it for you! It should be up in 30 minutes or so.

Unfortunately compy no likey. Get a set of 4 dead copilot processes, two of which I can't kill without restarting the computer. Doesn't generate a settings ini file, yell at me for a netlog path or anything. Not sure what's causing that, but Python is not my forte. Will hold onto V0.40 for the moment.

EDIT: Never mind! I found a pretty big bug that slipped through for a while. Please try 0.41a again (uploading now), I'm fairly confident it should work!

I'm sorry that 0.41 is causing these issues - I spotted one possible reason. I forgot to include the rare goods data in the .zip - it shouldn't cause that sort of crash, but I wouldn't want to 100% rule it out.

I also made and uploaded a 0.41-debug version. You can run that if you like - it will generate a file named elite-copilot-debug.txt which should contain all output and might help us find out what's wrong.

This is a most excellent application!

I do however have three feature requests as follows:

1. Have the application trim whitespaces from the beginning and end of names pasted into the "From" and "To" boxes. Admittedly it's a minor issue but the fix is probably also fairly minor. When I just double click system names to mark them from some places it also marks the whitespace at the end. At first I didn't know why it was failing to find routes and why it didn't know about certain systems, then I realized it was including the whitespace in the search.

2. I'd like the ability to paste a list of systems into the "Route" field and click a button, co-pilot would then (perhaps using the top one, or use the "From" box as the origin, not sure what the best option would be) calculate the distance from my current position to each of the system in the list, not route, just the straight distance is enough, and then either just mark the one that is closest, or print the distance for each system in the list.

The use case for this would be if you have a list of systems that say, has stations that sell a certain ship or piece of equipment, and want to know which one is the closest one. What I do currently is I take each one and paste it into the "To" box, then has co-pilot plot a route and tell me the distance, then note it, and so on, which is rather time consuming.

3. I'd love to have an "exploration mode" that you can enable where co-pilot would just follow along and when I enter a system, put the name in the clipboard so that I can paste it into my exploration log where I note all the systems I've explored.

Really nice program. Good job at it.
One small suggestion though. When its entering a system and says the next system to jump to...it spells it instead of saying the name of it.
Maybe some people are used to military type of names but i am not. Could you add a checkbox or something that will say the full name when checked instead of spelling it ?
Because now i have to alt-tab and see the name on the list instead of 'hearing it'.
When itis entering the next system it says the name of it...and 99% of the time you can tell which one it is from the navigation list, so its all good.
-Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind, just downloaded the source and saw the read me instructions in it :)

I having issues too with VA voice commands and the "F" keys as well, , anyone found a reason why its just some PC , have mapped other keys, will try more later , but reading this thread it's happened to others....thought I'll ask
The reason I using Copilot or tying too, Is I've come across the routing bug , at about 19+ly ,nothing bigger shows up in Nav, have too type in system/galaxy map first , then it shows up in the Nav. I want to be able to say Avoid system and hopefully the new system will be in NAV,
I'm using http://starchart.club as my route planner and its showing me less jumps from A to B for for my current jump range of 20ly , than Copilot does... food for thought

PS The webserver function shows up up my tablet , which is great , nice a big

Edit after using Elite Copilot for a while ,found it very useful if I set short routes then it nearly matches http://starchart.club , that always gives me shorter routes , Best is, Copilot highlights the system , so its CtrL C/V into Galaxy map, don't loose that , its very handy, beats typing stations names in and having Voice attack lower landing gear, !

Is it possible, the in game Left panel Navigation is synced with Elite Copilot Next system, so Voice Attack , works better when docking

When using Galaxy map to find Elite Copilot next system, as its not showing up in the Navigation menu too many systems ( wish DEV would fix this limitation ) once I have chosen the system though the Galaxy map, it then shows up in the Navigation menu
If I then Say "Jump" using Voice attack, there's a good chance VA will be out of sync with the Left Navigation panel for a VA docking request
But if I use the Navigation menu and execute the command to jump via the menus, the game stays in sync with VA, more often

UPDATED
I'm Using ED in fullscreen to be able to use Nvidia DSR
Both RegulatedNoise https://github.com/Duke-Jones/RegulatedNoise/releases & EliteCopilot use the same address. for information to be displayed. So been experimenting with Voice attack to open and close both applications , if I need one or the other Web servers functions , again this is problematic in fullscreen, as I can lose window focus. with EliteCopilot overlay trying to start up
The goal, for me is to stay in game , no alt tabbing and just use the android tablet to control third party apps via touch screen or Voice attack

Would like to be able to turn off the overlay for EliteCopilot and have more control of the web server function

Tutorial & Guide Writer
In the past your excellent tool, thread has been added to EDCodex. Before EDCodex was released on the 17th of August you have received in the period 5th - 10th of August a PM with an invitation and a special link. After registering and logging in you would automatically become owner of your entry. According to the admin tool(s) you haven't used the special link (yet). Perhaps you have missed the PM or have been (temporarily) away from ED. Its also possible you choose not to claim your entry. Note: Its also possible to assign another commander editing rights for your entry. In either case please send us a PM. You can find your EDCodex entry here.

Alternative way to get ownership
The special link will cease to function in the (near) future, for security reasons. Should you after that point want to become owner of your entry you can use the "Claim ownership" button. In that case please send biobob or myself a PM with the email addressed you used for registration - for verification. You can also use this procedure if you no longer have the PM.

What is EDCodex:
Its a website with a database of currently approx 215+ tools, threads, websites, videos for ED. Any one can and is encouraged to add entries there. EDCodex is and should be community-driven. EDCodex companion thread. Its equally suited for PC's, tablets and smartphones and has RSS feeds.

With kind regards,
Biobob
