GALNET - 19 FEB 3307 - Lakon Spaceways HQ Moves to Alioth System

I'm sorry but.....no. No way I'm accepting that as the HQ of the galaxy's biggest ship manufacturer.

Amen brother, I've already shown what I think is the sort of thing we should be seeing..

...if they couldn't make that yet, they could have hidden Lakon behind an atmosphere.

Hope there are more lakon ships out of this. Without any lore bias they are the best in the game.

The type 7, 9 and 10 are godlike when you find room for them in your fleet.

I would be interested in seeing a combat refitted t7, kind of like the T10 and the keelback. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised we got the chieftain line instead of that.

Perhaps this needs to be CG to upgrade the place. I mean they did just move in this week, perhaps these are temporary digs until they get the facilities proper constructed.
Smebbes thats where this story arc is going - a CG to bring Lakon materials to build a new facility?

...Although the cynic in me would say were Lakon to yank all the T-10 spoilers and smelt them down, they'd have enough material to build an ecumenopolis never mind a factory/starport.

So Palin gets a freaking city and Lakon gets some backwater shack?
Amen brah! - What;s worse is that technically Pailin still owns that place in Maia, although the Orthrus Thargoid might beg to differ and claim squatters' rights on that facility...

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Really odd choice by FDev.

Since this is an administrative office, not a manufacturing facility, you’d think the executives would have wanted their headquarters on an Earth-like world. Did Alioth run out of real-estate or something? 🤔

I hope FDev makes this new station cooler looking with a CG or something.

It's an office building, all the ship factories are elsewhere. I mean a skyscraper would have been nice, but these planetary ports have most of their structures underground anyway so it's not as if what we see on the surface is the whole complex.

Also, Faulcon deLacy is the galaxy's biggest ship manufacturer, not Lakon.

Well of course it isn't, it ain't Faulcon DeLacy. ;)

Galaxy's biggest nearly bankrupt manufacturer that just moved in to new facilities in a new star system.

Give them a minute to settle in!

(And when it looks exactly the same in a couple of months, by all means let 'em have it :D )

They only just moved in, perhaps there will be a construction project soon to upgrade the place.

I'm not accepting that Lakon lack the resources to move into, or build, a nicer HQ. They must have received billions - probably trillions - of credits from the Alliance in order to build the Chieftain family. Not to mention purchase fees from Commanders who have brought Lakon hardware.

I've never brought into the whole 'Lakon is poor' part of this narrative. There's been no prior events to even suggest such a thing and then Poof! Their poor folks! Its been put into the narrative to help push forward the failed takeover by Core Dynamics. This is a galaxy where any single Commander with a Sidewinder can purchase cheap mining equipment and make millions in ice rings within an hour. The concept of 'poor' for an entire ship manufacturer just doesn't ring true to me in this game at present.

Sure, Lakon have just moved the sofa in, sure, maybe there will be a CG - but if that's the case, why dump the outpost there now? We all know any 'Help Lakon extend their facilities' CG won't fail anyway, so why not add a new, city-sized plantery base now and be done with it already? People say they have underground facilties - in that case why would any faction even bother with the larger bases then? Building on the surface would actually be cheaper and far quicker.

And in terns of number of ships built, Lakon are bigger.

Faulcon deLacy: 10 ships (including 1 fighter)

Lakon : 12 ships

Faulcon DeLacy actually has 14 ships, as they own Zorgon Peterson.
Also I'm fairly sure just the amount of Vipers, Cobras, Pythons and Anacondas across the galaxy would outnumber Lakon's total ship count by several factors.

Not saying Lakon is poor (and frankly I think this entire story arc makes little sense), they're the second largest after all.
