ANCIENT ALIEN BATTLEGROUND DISCOVERED

17 AUG 3309
Pilots’ Federation ALERT
Wreckage from a past conflict between the Guardian and Thargoid races has been found in the Wregoe BU-Y b2-0 system.
The crashed remains of Thargoid vessels, alongside structures of Guardian origin, are located on Wregoe BU-Y b2-0 1 c. Conflict between the two species occurred millions of years ago, but physical evidence of this is extremely rare. The only comparable site, in the Trapezium Sector YU-X c1-2 system, was initially found two centuries ago by the Azimuth Biochemicals ship Proteus and rediscovered in 3307.
Wregoe BU-Y b2-0 was one of several systems under investigation following a report by Commander Renia Rakowski, who encountered a Thargoid interceptor in nearby Wregoe GA-X B3-0.
The Holloway Bioscience Institute has sent teams into the area to explore the possibility of xenoarchaeological research. Dr Jeong-Hui Shin gave a statement to The Sovereign newsfeed:
“It is fascinating that none of the Thargoid vessels operating in this region are immediately aggressive. One of our theories is that they are still following million-year-old orders to attack the Guardians. Therefore, from their perspective, humans are an unknown species and not identified as an enemy. Alternatively, they may be pursuing non-combat functions such as meta-alloy harvesting, as with the Thargoids that can still be found in some nebulas.”
Prominent xeno-peace advocates including Timothy Culver, Bernadette Wells and Dev Venkatesh have called for further study of the area. They claim that this is “an opportunity for non-hostile interactions with the Thargoids,” who may have developed “an autonomous subculture that is more amenable to coexistence with humanity, providing certain boundaries are respected.”
Other pro-peace groups have demanded that naval forces should not be sent into the region, as the Thargoids may view this as a provocation. At present, Aegis is focused entirely on gathering information and is not aware of any anti-xeno deployments against Wregoe BU-Y b2-0.

I love the hopeful reactions that there may be a chance for peace in this region. The rare opportunity presented by finding an area of Thargoid activity where humanity has not yet invaded! Even an acknowledgement that sending military fleets in to shoot whatever they can find could maybe be a poor choice!

Maybe the powers can learn from their mistakes? Sure, they were dumb in the Pleiades, but they couldn't have known the region full of alien tech could have been alien territory. And yeah, they were explicitly told it was later, and invaded Witch Head anyway...and then the Coalsack...but this time, yeah, this time. Just so long as there's no money to be made from this site, we can have hope. Just so long as the mistakes of the past were actually mistakes and not intentional.

there will be peace eventually. when the thargoids destroy the bubble and send humanity into tiny pockets of stations where players are now depended upon for the supply of resources or to craft their own commodities to survive. where infinite supply is gone and the activity of players determines availability, security, and rewards.

that's peace. and an interesting game. players picking up the pieces of humanity after a devastating near extinction loss. rebuilding in new places. all player driven and player dependent.

Someone was claiming in chat that there was a live Interceptor moaning at one of the crash sites, but not independently verified.

There’s sensors giving off noises there. No live Thargoids to be found.

Part of me still feels like someone forgot to flick the ‘On’ switch for the active Thargoid presence. Which might be for the better, since there will have been idiots there that would just have started blasting on sight.

Me sitting here waiting for Fdev to fix the crash bug that started after todays server maintenance, so I can go have a look :) GRRrrrr
At least I know its not just me as support said quite a few having same prob :( That sounds mean but I didnt mean it to. !

It's pretty low effort - they could have either:
  • Slapped on an 50 Ly NHSS shell like Maia etc - and BOOM! hyperdictions as expected, or
  • Have the 2nd Galnet make the Feds deny they could find traces from a hyperdiction and cast doubt on the commando

The second option is zero effort (and leaves things open as the commando can always be proved correct later on if they can work out how to make the Thargoids appear :sneaky: )

Could someone please help a forgetful CMDR out and give the planetary coordinates for the battleground?

I decided to go for a looksee at the latest stuff, spent 45 minutes jumping my Cobra out there, and then realised I hadn’t got the planet scan probe thing fitted 😅

If I’m having a senior moment and there’s another way to find the site, please tell!

Good morning,

These are the coordinates of the crash sites:

-30,110 / -92,180
-34,500 / -86,057 Resin & Biological matter & Sensor fragments
-28,400 / -83,800
-4,300 / -90,500 Sensor & Sensor fragments
-4,800 / -101,42

Hope you can do anything with it :)

You could check if any of the Fleet Carriers in the system have outfitting and sell a DSS. Mine(Paradigm Industries) does not, unfortunately.
