Galnet: Core Dynamics Purchases Lakon Spaceways

Oooooo Odyssey release?
I'm still not over the fact that many overlooked this !
It would take an update to make the adjustments for docking voicecoms when announcing the ship's manufacturer (their names probably too and any other detail regarding this) while the next huge update could very much be in the next two months.

One interesting point, is there any reason the company would not continue to trade with the Lakon brand just under ownership of Core Dynamics ( in the same way ZP does under Falcon De Lacey).

There are a few interesting directions this could take, the investigation is yet to conclude, the actual structure of the take over and the new company is yet to be seen, and there is the effect on the election.

Isn't Odyssey expected to arrive in April (at the earliest)?

Two months...

I guess there is the hidden Odyssey release date 🥳

So, by extrapolation, we may even get the alpha (or those of us who have either LEP or pre-ordered) in very short order indeed, which would make me pretty pleased!
  • Yes, I'm an optimist.
  • No, I don't knock Frontier just because it is fashionable to do so.
  • Yes, I expect other forumites to be totally offended by my stance!
Fingers crossed ;)

Optimism is underrated these days (y)

I really don't understand where are they going with that narrative... Lakon is established and popular ship manufacturer in that universe, adored and praised by many players. I don't see any point in "merge" like this. Are they just trying to anger Lakon fans? What's going to happen to in-game ship models and descriptions? Are they going to change all that? Add Core Dynamic signatures inside and out of these ships? Lakon will not exist anymore?

Really, the only logical conclusion I see here is that something's going wrong, and deal doesn't go through. I honestly see no point in erasing major manufacturer from the game purely for the sake of narrative...
You know mergers and buyouts happen all the time where no rebranding occurs, right?

In terms of elite, it's much less likely they'd write a narrative that would result in them needing to change tons of ui, cockpit graphics and other logistics.

There's jumping to conclusions and then there's Elite forums jumping to conclusions.

If it is new ships or re-purposed ships. I am pritty sure they will be military personnel carriers, and fast deployment personnel carriers.
The Alliance Cs already look quite like the Dropship from Aliens, In the pipe 5 by 5 !

Though why they would need them to be Fed and Imp ships rather than Fed, Imp and Alliance ships I have no idea.
Unless there will be no Alliance in a few months and a take over is the best way to allow new players to still be able to buy those ships... Hmmm... Reaches for the tin foil.

Exactly my thoughts, this merger has to fall through somehow - I'm just not sure how and to what purpose.

Why?

Or does the narrative explicitly state that there would be a rebranding of Lakon? If it does, I'll agree. Otherwise, you're just jumping to the factually incomplete conclusion that buyout == rebranding.
