Galnet: Core Dynamics Purchases Lakon Spaceways

What if the engineers grouped together and built custom high-end versions of existing ships, under a new brand?

is what if.

I've been ninjad in my answer to this one, Numa and Marcus have covered it so well in the posts quoted below...

...and I don't think the Python is the oldest design of ship still in active service, something tells me the sidewinder is older still! And possibly the gutamays ships, although they could be subject to a retcon as the courier was originally what we call a clipper now, rather than its current eagle/viper alternative.

That works for me as well, the most important thing is getting the concept of "space" in their name, Aerodynamics has no place in the void...
According to the original Elite manual (1984) and the Elite Dangerous Wiki

https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Elite_Timeline

the Sidewinder was introduced in 2982.

As far as I can see the Python is the oldest flyable ship in the game.

Only the Transporter, mentioned in the original Elite manual, has an older date of "pre 2500" but is not flyable in current Elite.

Very interesting points made on several fronts. I would agree that the most probable thing(s) to come out of this would be one or more new ships. CMDR Buur also reminded me that Vodel, the manufacturer of the Scarab, is owned by Core Dynamics. This leads my hype brain to now 100% expect that we will be getting a new Hoverbike SRV with Odyssey 😁

Core Dymanics is a Federation Cororation...

The Fed Prez is nicknamed "space trump"...

On that basis can't Lakon investors null and void the take over by shouting "massive (board eating) electoral fraud"?

I've always assumed that the Transporter became our types 6, 7 and 9 Transporters. I'm not sure what happened to 8.
Pretty sure that's the case, since the Transporter in 1984 Elite was, according to the manual, manufactured by Lakon Spaceways (and looked suspiciously like the mains plug on the BBC B).

That should never have been allowed to happen, were the EU worth a damn it should have intervened! I was really saddened to see SAAB hit the end of its road, always been a fan, briefly owned a 9000lt with the LPT setup, probably going to buy a 93 cabrio in the next couple of years. I know the 93 has a lot of GM/Vectra in it, but that probably makes it more sustainable long term, it's not like I can go to the SAAB dealership and buy any parts, is it? But if I'm, creative it should be easier to find GM group equivalent parts, so even things brake pads, rather than look for them for a saab, look for them for an astra/vectra etc.

Awesome Brother. (y) The 93 is a fine car. Saab made sure to "SAAB" them up as much as possible. Just stay away from the sludge years (2000-2002)
I have a '97 9000 CSE 2.3 Turbo for 5 years now. She's in the shop now for an engine re-build, with 370,000km on the clock. Should be ready by months end. 🎉
My wife has a '94 900 SE 2.0 Turbo. We vowed to keep them until there are parts and service available. Love dominating the highway! We won't drive anything else.

Sorry, back to topic. :)
