Galnet: Core Dynamics Purchases Lakon Spaceways

It just goes to show, they don't make ships like they used to. 600 years and it's still the best medium ship in galaxy.
To be fair, the body styling has changed in that time

The shipbuilding company Lakon Spaceways has officially accepted a bid for ownership from Federal corporation Core Dynamics.
The proposal from Core Dynamics CEO Jupiter Rochester was ratified following a majority vote by Lakon’s board of directors, many of whom were recently appointed following resignations demanded by shareholders.
Trent Delaney, the new chairperson, confirmed the merger in a public statement:
We are overjoyed that Lakon Spaceways will join the Core Dynamics family, thereby overturning the mistakes of the previous management and setting us on course for a bright future.

It's time to bring back Argent Aerodynamics Amalgamated Inc to build ships for the Alliance.
This - very much this! I actually wondered why Lakon got the Alliance ships when the chieftain was unveiled, and Argent wasn't introduced.

This might be a way for FDev to introduce an Alliance ship manufacturer. It's the only super power without one.
Hopefully it is, and as you alluded to earlier, hopefully its called Argent Aerodynamic Amalgamated Incorporated as this was a company in previous iterations of the Elite franchise. Although I have to admit, the word "Aerodynamics" never sat squarely with me, I always felt it should be "Argent Amalgamated Astronautical Industries"¿
Can't say I'm a fan of this storyline to be honest.
Nor I, it gives the Federation even more power, and the Federation already has too much clout IMHO.

Of course it could also tie in with the whole expansion into the Coalsack and an alliance between the Alliance and Thargoids, which could involve a breeding program or some such...
@RELPSI - Surely this'd be your gig hunny? 'Know anything you'd care to share?

it points to a simpler game for the FPS masses that'll come with Odyssey
Surely to frack the digital-bullet-stoppers can understand different companies make different ships? They don't even need to find Lakon "Dealerships", ships are generally widely available the exception being the rank locked ships which are understandably contained within the borders of the superpower that "authorises" purchases.

Edmund Mahon will win the elections. Why? Frontier won't spend a penny on a new powerplay character art

Introducing the Alliance Eagle. Its got two extra wings and its slower.
@Just Call Me Dave must have used the force and foreseen my thoughts on this idea, as while I was AFK, he typed exactly what I was thinking...
As long as it comes with small hardpoints that I can stick pulse lasers in on the wingtips I will buy Red weapons and any Squadron (base with longitudinal stripes) paintjob they make for it.
You are so right there bro, even the cockpit canopy is the right shape for the X-Wing illusion - it's just a bit of a mind-hump to realise that while the X-Wing is about spitfire sized, the Eagle is about the size of a being 737

General Manures bought Saab unfortunately, angered their fans and proceeded to destroyed it. But they will forever be Saab.
That should never have been allowed to happen, were the EU worth a damn it should have intervened! I was really saddened to see SAAB hit the end of its road, always been a fan, briefly owned a 9000lt with the LPT setup, probably going to buy a 93 cabrio in the next couple of years. I know the 93 has a lot of GM/Vectra in it, but that probably makes it more sustainable long term, it's not like I can go to the SAAB dealership and buy any parts, is it? But if I'm, creative it should be easier to find GM group equivalent parts, so even things brake pads, rather than look for them for a saab, look for them for an astra/vectra etc.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened to any ship yet. In a space faring future, 6 years have passed and absolutely zero ship models have been phased out of production.
I've been ninjad in my answer to this one, Numa and Marcus have covered it so well in the posts quoted below...
Some of them have been going strong for over 200 years.
The first version of the Python was designed in 2700, so its design is over 600 years old!

...and I don't think the Python is the oldest design of ship still in active service, something tells me the sidewinder is older still! And possibly the gutamays ships, although they could be subject to a retcon as the courier was originally what we call a clipper now, rather than its current eagle/viper alternative.

Argent Aerospace Amalgamated?
That works for me as well, the most important thing is getting the concept of "space" in their name, Aerodynamics has no place in the void...

I really don't understand where are they going with that narrative... Lakon is established and popular ship manufacturer in that universe, adored and praised by many players. I don't see any point in "merge" like this. Are they just trying to anger Lakon fans? What's going to happen to in-game ship models and descriptions? Are they going to change all that? Add Core Dynamic signatures inside and out of these ships? Lakon will not exist anymore?

Really, the only logical conclusion I see here is that something's going wrong, and deal doesn't go through. I honestly see no point in erasing major manufacturer from the game purely for the sake of narrative...

Alliance elections coming up, now the main Fed defence contractor has taken over the Alliance's defensive shipbuiding, all against a background of increasing tensions with the Thargoids in the Outer Colonies Witch Head and Coalsack and coming after the sabre-rattling over the Marlinists and Liz the mad bomber . Two months worth of shenanigans declared!
