Now there's lot of work to re-engineer everything

Lol. It's just reduced mat requirements. Calm down :ROFLMAO:

Oh thank Christ, i just yesterday finished fully engineering a Corvette, top to bottom. I used up the majority of my materials, and while i don't care about reduced material costs the thought of them offering better stats almost had my blood boiling.

They really could do with better writers of their Galnet "Press Releases" they make it sound like it is increased stats, not reduced mat costs.

Engineers Boost Ship Module Upgrading
17 DEC 3306
Pilots Federation ALERT

The effectiveness of engineers’ upgrading for ship modules will be boosted until the 7th of January 3307.

During this time, engineered weapons and modules will receive increased augmentation for the same amount of materials. This will apply to every workshop in Alliance, Imperial, Federal and independent space.

Lori Jameson, an engineer based in the Shinrarta Dezhra system, provided details to Vox Galactica on how this collaboration came about:

“After the Eurybia incident, some of us contacted Liz Ryder and offered our support. It was horrifying how her expertise had been abused by the NMLA, leaving her unfairly maligned as a terrorist supporter. There were concerns that her situation might reflect badly on engineers in general.”

“We soon established communication links between every workshop, and agreed to offer a universal boost to upgrades. Hopefully this will remind pilots how much we value their custom, and that we remain a trustworthy resource.”

Mel Brandon, one of four engineers in the Colonia Region, commented:

“It’s about time that we all started talking to each other. Our services are valuable to the whole galaxy. We deserve better protection. Maybe we have to start protecting ourselves.”

Can someone confirm if the benefit applies to remote workshop Engineering? Or do we need to physically visit the engineers base to get the discounted modification?

Sounds familiar.

If I remember correct the last time it happened it was like this:

  • announcement
  • people grind their arx off for the mats
  • mats were different then people thought
  • riots and open letters
  • doom
  • ???
  • profit
Was thinking the same, last time required mats moved down a grade, and people were outraged they had to go trade 1 G5 mat for 6 G4 mats they needed.

Greater gain per mat used seems like a better route, but I'm sure someone will find Doom in it.

I'm playing the looooong meta game. Waiting to Engineer stuff until they start throwing mods at me.

The 100 odd rounds at Dav's Hope some years back to get FSDs was enough for me for now.

Seems like a nice gesture to the newer players to help them get up to speed.
I also like how they've tied it to the lore.
Less grind time means more time to get involved in other things...maybe.
I'd rather have this than just abandoning them to be farmed till they quit, like many other games have done in the past.

"Increased augmentation for the same amount of materials" is poorly worded and can/will be interpreted as increased engineering stats. A better wording would have been "decreased amount of engineering materials for the same augmentation".

Not exactly.
Some G5 requires 10 rolls to fully complete.
If that will get down to 5 rolls for fully G5... there you go... "Increased augmentation for the same amount of materials"
