TITLE: Xeesian Corp. shares soar on news of starship teleportation breakthrough

DESCRIPTION:
Xeesian Corporation, manufacturers of popular starship escape systems, saw a steep rise in their share price this week after announcing a technological breakthrough. Tanj Caladan, Senior VP of Quantum Teleportation Technologies at Xeesian, had this to say about it:

"Our scientists have discovered a way to dramatically scale up the technology we use in our popular Quantum Egress personal escape systems, building on recent work to allow rare materials to be teleported together with pilots from beleaguered spacecraft. This breakthrough will allow safe quantum teleportation of the entire spacecraft from a suitably outfitted shipyard, with enough nanoscale resolution to faithfully reproduce even the recently popular after-market modifications. We believe this will be a welcome boon to pilots, such as those who may find themselves on a trading vessel and wish to visit a nearby combat zone."

TITLE: A journey - silver reflections in space

DESCRIPTION:
Entry #30
It was a long trip home, tired eyes trailing off to the night sky.
A glimpse of silver on the horizon, touching the milky-way and mixing with
glimmering dust.
Kapp Terminal laid in the dark, only the positioning lights were bright enough,
to give a hint on where the outpost continued the orbit.

Psamathe, home, a long forgotten
memory. The hunt ceased, the hunters grew tired,
as did i.
But i did glimpse the silver
in the sky. The dust, could it be?
I have to try to find the source of it.
To help myself keeping a level head,
i will take notes.

TITLE: We Should Have Listened to Dr Lorax

DESCRIPTION:
Six months have elapsed since Doctor Elana Lorax warned against the excessive exploitation of the non-human structures commonly called “barnacles.” In her repeated pleas, she noted that aggressive harvesting jeopardized efforts to produce a viable synthetic alternative to the organically produced meta-alloys.

Despite President Zachary Hudson’s claims that the Federation deputation in the Merope system was there solely to protect the non-human structures, independent commanders have verified that the barnacles have been entirely depleted and now lay barren.

CMDR Vindicator Jones reported his observations:

“Just went to Merope 5C to check out the barnacles. They have been destroyed... I have tried visiting several, but they are all destroyed.”

It is not known why the Federation has acted so contrariwise to their stated objectives, particularly given Hudson's acknowledgement that the barnacles may possess some form of sentience.

Doctor Lorax could not be reached for comment, but it is becoming increasingly clear that we should have heeded her warnings.

TITLE: EEF Joins Call for Exploration Professionalism
Location: Galnet / Alt: Sol, Okinura, Beta Hydri, HR 6421
Time: Anytime before first-contact :)

Recent statements from Karl Devene of the Federal Astrocartography Department urging the curtailment of amateur exploration of space has been met with criticism by the majority of the galaxy's explorer community. An exception to this criticism has been voiced by the Earth Expeditionary Fleet, the exploration arm of the Earth Defense Fleet, Federation minor faction headquartered in Okinura.

"Someone had to say it," said EEF pilot Finn McMillan. "There is an independent faction, the Children of Raxxla, encouraging explorers to meticulously map every system in the EAFOTS sector. This kind of search could lead to mankind finding some form of pre-sentient or primitive sentient life.”

McMillan recently returned to Okinura from the EAFOTS sector where he has been observing the activities of the numerous explorers currently mapping the sector.

"The EEF would love to see Federal Astrocartography establish a support outpost in EAFOTS to help coordinate what is currently an anarchic search and to provide education to explorers regarding proper first-contact etiquette."

TITLE: Exploration unlikely to subside any time soon
LOCATION: Galnet, Payayan, Alioth,
TIME: Anytime soon works.

Following the recent statements from Karl Devene of the Federal Astrocartography Department aimed at curtailing independent exploration, an almost predictable wave of discontent was quick to follow from the majority of the galactic community. While many would be quick to say that discontent to be a show of anger, many have chosen to respond with indifference.

This reporter feels however that the greatest response to these comments is likely to be defiance, if not taken as encouragement to continue exploring our galaxy.

Explorers from all sides of the Bubble have weighed in against Mr. Devene, with many worlds reaching out to their own explorers to hear their opinions. In the Alliance, the Payayan Explorers Association found such encouragement from CMDR John C. Schmidt, who was happy to share his thoughts.

"Just another good reason to be out here as far as i'm concerned." He told our reporter with a stroke of his beard. "It's always been my dream to get out and find incredible things among the stars. Places for us to live, life to study, and sentient life... what explorer worth his skin doesn't want to make first contact?"

"The Federation needs to understand that they don't run Humanity. I'm going to keep doing what i've been doing. Waving my willy in their beardless faces every time they try to tell us that they know better. When they tell me to stop learning, i'll keep learning and share what i've learned. When they tell me to stop exploring, I'll spin up the FSD and map the furthest stars and bring those discoveries home."

"And for every new star that I witness, i'll say a little prayer. I'll pray that if i'm not the one to find sentient life in the galaxy, that whoever does meet them isn't some close minded Fed."

TITLE: Counter offer made for MetaDrive Inc

DESCRIPTION:
Today, Pan Galactic Mining Corp expressed interest in distressed business MetaDrive Inc. A serious counter offer to Sirius Corp's bailout is expected in the next few days, with representatives for all interested parties locked in all night talks.

Observers have expressed surprise that offers have been made before the business entered into official receivership, having commented that the businesses promising assets and intellectual property would likely have been available at a much more attractive price had the company been allowed to go under. However, Jock Riesling from stock rating agency Blues told this reporter that 'given that the advantageous assets are so advantageous, it makes some sense to try and buy the company lock stock and barrel, rather than wait for a piecemeal sell off and the lottery of an auction'.

A spokesman for PanGal said 'Despite our Sirius seed funding we're an independent operation, and this is too good an opportunity to pass up. Yes, we're interested, but yes we're underdogs here. The question is, do the sellers want maximum return, or do they want a future?'

TITLE: Imperial Assault on TII Research Facility

DESCRIPTION:
The former Imperial Inquisition research facility on Pleiades Sector IH-V c2-16 D 2 came under assault this weekend. The Majestic-class Interdictor INV Anders Blaine and her escorts appear intent upon reclaiming the planetary base, which was captured by Federation forces just weeks ago.

Communications frequencies in the immediate vicinity have been jammed, but an intermittent distress signal was received by independent pilots.

“Mayday… TII facility... interdictor… heavy fire… casualties… unknown… send reinforce…”

A Farragut-class Battlecruiser is reportedly on station in Pleiades Sector IH-V c2-16, but according to our sources it has yet to respond to the the Imperial assault.

No public statements have been made by either Federal or Imperial officials regarding this incident, but it will almost certainly continue the erosion of goodwill between the superpowers.

TITLE: Kippax Dock inundated with fish

DESCRIPTION:
Market analysts in the Ngalia system were left nonplussed as a swarm of Pilots Federation commanders inundated the sleepy outpost with large quantities of fish. While agricultural imports are standard for the industrial system, the quantities of fish being shipped into Kippax Dock specifically are completely out of proportion with standard sales volumes.

One analyst commented: "There have been close to 700 commanders in the last hour selling large quantities of fish here. At this rate, and with these volumes, we're not going to have anywhere to store todays mineral stocks when the miners come home for the day. Perhaps the station controller should consider outlawing fish as an interim measure?"

Regardless of the reasons, something fishy is definitely afoot!

Title: Demand for Investigation

The Children of Raxxla are demanding the authorities of Cemiess to investigate and share information on the boarding of Commander Salomé's ship that happened more than a week ago.

Commander Jellicoe released the following statement to the press: "The boarding has happened in the jurisdiction of one of the factions in Cemiess. Commander Salomé was not a wanted person. Therefore, the boarding of her ship is a serious crime. A crime that up till now has been ignored by the local authorities in Cemiess, which raises the question whether they are doing it on purpose."

"It is the duty of the authorities to investigate and share information on crimes with the general public. The Children of Raxxla are particularly interested in the local crime reports. Commander Salomé must have had the automatic crime report of her ship turned on. This could potentially give us vital information on her attackers."

TITLE: Irens Dock Resumes Work!
LOCATION: Galnet (if not important enough, just Anagorovici / Manite)
TIME: Anytime

Irens Dock in Manite has been only one of many victims of terrorist attacks based on biological warfare surrounding the unknown artifacts. While the dead can never be returned, the survivors of this cruel act had banded together to reactivate the old Lady once again, without the use of any meta-alloy in the process. For now, at least, they succeeded, as the basic food distribution is back online, as well as the shipyard.
This success, if only minor, calls into question the tremendous loss of life that has been incurred on the Barnacles in the name of repairing the damage done to other statons. While this versatile material might have been useful to quickly switch out damaged parts and to reinforce the structures again, it however is just one replacement over another.
With determination and effort, Irens is back alive and even if it takes years, the CI-Pact will try to undo most of the damage by conventional means alone. No Barnacle will be harmed in its continued repairs!

Title: 1% Hull, 99% guts
Location: Galnet
Time: Any time, sooner the better tbh

* * * * * * *

An extraordinary tale of derring-do and triumph over adversity has emerged from the embryonic community taking shape around Jaques Station in the Colonia Nebula. Commander Djhato, on his way out to Jaques, crashed into an ice world, reducing his hull to just 1%. Despite having over 14,000 light years still to travel, Djhato made the decision to carry on regardless, reaching the station late on August 27th.

With a modesty typical of many explorers, he told The Colonia Gazette, “I guess I don’t give up easily. It was a bit of a challenge to see if I could make it”.

Commander Djhato also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he has received from the Colonia Citizens. The region has seen an influx of commanders in recent weeks, with numbers reaching around five hundred colonists.

BREAKING NEWS

This message is for all of the citizen journalists of the galaxy. All of us "Freelancers".

My recent news report, published to Galnet on Tuesday, is evidence that our reporting on galactic events is extremely consequential.

The fact that I was allowed to report an event that occurred in-game using direct quotes from Commander Salome, a character based on official game lore, is evidence that there are certain in-game events that are going to occur that absolutely require that we, the players, take an active role in pushing information out to the community. The abduction of CMDR Salome was an event that could have easily played out in the pages of Galnet. Instead that information was seeded via an 'Advanced NPC' to a player while in-game. That player then reported his experience to Reddit and to these forums. I then took this information and generated a press release.

What does this mean?

It means that we citizen journalists have a responsibility to keep our fellow players informed of what is going on in the galaxy. There may be key events that occur in game that the majority of the player-base will never know about unless we take the time to report on it. It means that Frontier expects US to act like a community.

Please. PLEASE! take the time to submit news reports on anything remotely newsworthy that you encounter while playing the game or while reading the reports of other CMDRs. There are so many real, breathing, stories across the galaxy. We "Freelancers" have a unique opportunity to inform our peers. Every report that we submit that gets published become a part of the official in-game lore of the galaxy. We're helping to write history. Keep reporting Commanders! - Jaiotu / CMDR Finn McMillan

Well, personnaly, I'll stop wasting my time trying to be published here. Only one was published, and the latest (this one was certainly the closest to the criterias I wrote) was refused.
It's always the same persons who are published here.

The way Galnet Submission is not good.
If Galnet is opened to player submission, then Galnet MUST BE REALY OPEN.
If not, then player'd never be able to publish here.

For my latest submission, Jaiotu, it told about the Colonia Citizen Netword, an organization created by the players for the players at Colonia Nebula. It seems that, in Galnet Submission, nobody know what is CCN. And they say they want to open the Lore to the players ? CCN is one of the biggest thing's happend actualy, if you only have players acts in mind. Instead of talking about that, some news was publishing related to races, or the wars between two artificial factions (NPCs LOL !). Galnet prefere news about their NPC than news about what players do. And they sell us this game as a MMO :D

On the thread about the Colonia Citizen Network, none FDev's comments. More than 200 players are involved and organized to colonized a new bubble around a nebula far from Sol (22kly) and no FDev's comment on the thread, no Galnet submissions aprouved. We have a Discord server and the Dev'd request an invite, just as watchers, to see what's happend here, but nobody never did that.

I'll stop wasting my time now.

Err... Did you read it ?

NB : I didnt say that FDev hates me or what CCN does. You totaly miss my points.

My latest submission told exclusively about that we are doing around Colonia Nebula. I wrote that just after reading the Jaiotu post (the Breaking News one). This comment was motiving me to wrote my submission. After reading that, I feel my self authorized enough to do that. This submission told about a project we will launch soon. This project is about cartographying the vicinity, with the hope finding colonizable worlds, barnacles candidates worlds, and of course, listing enough ammonia worlds to say if the ratio of ammonia worlds there is that high or not.

Where is the conflicted with the official lore here ? More, if each galnet submission could interfer at this high level with the lore, why this public thread ? The best way to the dev would be creating a press room with some players taken in the confidence instead of that fake public submission process.

And lets talk about official Lore. What is Drew Wagar doing now ? I guess he write a book that will be the "official" lore and will include in the "official lore" what players doing. More than 200 players involved in something in the game seems not legit enough to the Dev to make it "official lore".

"Official" Lore makes me laugh now.

We will continue to write the real story of Elite Dangerous, the one that players is writing everyday by playing this game. This is the only one that make sense. And if the Dev and the "lore masters" wants to join us, they are very welcome.

Title : The Colonia Citizens Network engaged in the search of alien life ?

Content : Since the very first unknown artifact was found, the galactic community is excited by the fact that we are not alone in the Galaxy. And afraid too. Nobody has forgot the war between the Thargoids and humanity.
However, scientists throughout the galaxy are actively studying the artifacts, which seem to be turning up in increasing numbers, and some further and further afield.

Around Jaques Station, explorers are reporting the discovery of high numbers of ammonia worlds - leading to speculation that the Colonia Nebula could be a prime region for scientists to investigate the artifact phenomena.

Julian Winter, of the Colonia Gazette, wrote recently : "This question remains unanswered, and is one of the key things the scientific community will be examining. The Colonia Nebula Project will make the hunt for alien life a part of its mandate."

We tried to discover more about the Colonia Nebula Project without success. Security seems to be very high here.

We will investigate more and will inform you as soon as we have further news of what is going on out there.

Yeah, I've read it.

I've bolded the part which can be seen as conflicting. What humanity had was a short encounter with the Thargoids and not a war with them.

Apparently you can't accept that your submissions were declined for some reasons. But that's not unusual. Happened to the majority of my articles, too.

But that's what you have to accept when you submit here. And the accussations of this being a 'fake submission' forum are btw. I already had articles released and certainly didn't arrange something inbefore.

The statements regarding the Thargoids may have conflicted with the current state of the Lore. My understanding is that many people among the human race consider the Thargoids to be more myth then reality. To be honest ... I'm not sure what the official stance is.

I've had plenty of articles published but almost twice as many have been rejected. Personally ... I'm fine that.

Another problem with your suggested article is that it directly overlaps the current CG at Jaques Station. Ian's OP says that they won't publish articles that conflict with or predict content from Frontier itself. Your article may have been rejected because it conflicts with the current CG.

If an article requires too much editing it won't be published.

Just wanted to say that, while Alex may be frustrated on a personal level that his article wasn't published, the comments above don't represent the feelings of the Colonia Citizens Network as a whole.

Who told about Thargoid ?

I never told about Thargoids. I told about finding evidence of alien's life clues around Jaques Station because some explorators said it seems the ratio of ammonia worlds is exceptionnaly high, and some other said the opposite. I also told about a specific mission assigned to a project that will start soon, a project that is a part of the CCN, that will give the ability to fix that specific question. That's all.

And to say more about the current CG, if FDev had being more close to the players around Colonia Nebula, they'd know that the CCN had a cartography project that will go further than a simple CG. The only way Dev goes is CG. The players goes with methods a bit more interresting. We, the players, are developing an exploration gameplay much interesting so far than "exploration" CGs :D Just think about DW, or August Exodus, and now CCN. Just one more word about the CG topic. This particular CG will ending when we will start our operation. And the FDev'd know that if they'd be more close to us. Plus, when I see the way the Jaques Station were plan, I doubt that it was plan with the goal to see those concluded. The second CG was started during a time there were no ability to mining efficiently, and it didnt goes to the higher level, as it'd be the case if this CG was started after Outfitting and restock online at Jaques Station. Seriously, its not the way to plan CG when you want to see those CG concluded well and to the higher level. The current CG is not a cartography CG, its only a "selling data" CG. We will cartographying the vicinity of Jaques Station. This CG will not. That's the very difference between what Dev does and are able to do, and what the players can do.
