Game Bashing On Steam

If we could ignore everyone who is upset because no VR, no ship interiors and the people who just don't want any FPS in their space game the score would probably slightly better.
No zero G, no updated surface legacy buildings, special FX removed to speed up the poor performance, no Thargoids on legs, no new ships, still only one star light per system, no procedurally generated plant life and after a year still broken lighting and AA...
But other than that, yea, the full priced DLC should definitely have a higher score - as long as you love basic first person shooters and a new grindathon tacked onto the creaking engine.

Also, the new planet tech is a joke, tiled bitmaps, copy pasted rocks and still just a basic heightfield - and I'm willing to bet they've been working on that far longer than just the 3 years it took to make Odyssey.

Apart from all that what have the Romans ever done for us?

That's right. I would rather call it mass hysteria. And while we're on the subject of "evidence". You might have a hard time proving that all the people behind these reviews know what they are talking about. I don't mean to say that they are all idiots. But a certain herd instinct can be recognised.
What must be recognized is that defending the growing criticism of ED, with a conspiracy theory, seems too pathetic to me. Wasn't there a less fanciful argument?

On the other hand, there are many people who, despite how unhappy they are with the ED., have given it a positive note. (I for example)

E.D is a game with a lot of potential, but lately they have done everything to earn these negative reviews on Steam.

A secret conspiracy of disgruntled players organized 6300 purchasers of this niche DLC on Steam (at 40$ a pop) panned EDO with "Mostly Negative", while 62,000 Steam reviews state that ED/EDH is "Mostly Positive".

It makes perfect sense. The will and horror - 6300 little arms pushing the Disappove button.

If I had ten divisions of such game purchasers I could take down Elden Ring.

The main failure of EDO is that it isn't a game-changer.
If you thought ED was the best game ever prior to EDO, you STILL think it's the best game ever - because there's moaarrrrr of it!
If you fell into the 'mile wide, inch deep' camp then EDO just made ED wider, without adding any significant depth.

This happened for two reasons:
Firstly, the new planets are essentially the same old planets just with a different colored sky. For all the tech 'improvements' and the new settlements, 99.99% of the new planets consists of exactly the same dust and rocks as the old planets. There's nothing new to do outside the settlements, just a couple of dozen different plant models and a new scanner to point at them. More width, no more depth.

Secondly, FDev listened to the players requests for 'spacelegs' and some how came up with the idea that this meant a generic FPS with limited stealth behavior. Nobody was actually asking for an FPS - they were asking for ship interiors, EVAs and boarding actions. Then FDev, as always, bolted on a new grind for equipment for the FPS and didn't really bother to give a reason for doing ground missions beyond becoming better at doing ground missions. Once again, more with, no more depth.

Add onto this the limited VR and the terrible performance issues and it's no wonder that EDO got, and continues to get, terrible reviews.

So the reviews should be better because you personally are having fun? Personally I think the reviews should be a lot WORSE, since EDO is still missing the advertised feature of 'diplomacy contracts', and we can safely ignore any review from people who don't care about that feature.
You are perfectly entitled to have that opinion, just like I have mine. 🤷‍♂️

"I think the game deserves better reviews because personally I actually like it."

"Are you crazy?! You obviously believe in conspiracies!!!"

🤦‍♂️

What is wrong with ED players?
They are the same in other places...

all these updates and only ONE new campaign. what?? why do game devs keep making these garbage "make your OWN fun" modes?

look, I just wanted to complain about the game, but you white knight sycophants just wanna try to attack me personally

This was another 'official' communication channel for another game that came out in December last... Could almost be this forum, couldn't it?
