Game is doomed.

"Yes, it is amazing, it's gone well. This has been its best year both in terms of players, and also in terms of how well it's doing for us, because these things aren't about money but we can spend more on development. There are a lot of dedicated people that just making it better and better, and we've got some exciting things to come - not just talking Beyond. We're in a really good place to be." - Ed

So yeah the game is dead/doomed.

I love these patch pre-release jokes and high spirits, lets hope it holds afterwards ;p

Cat: That's it! We're deader than tank-tops!

Cat: Dead. Aw, the entire panel's deader than A-line flares with pockets in the knees!

Cat: There's no time. Face it -- we're deader than corduroy.

Isn't this the kind of overly positive thing they say about politicians/football mangers etc. just before they get sacked? ;)

I do love a good ED is DOOMED thread with my afternoon coffee.

Especially love the DOOMED threads that incite feelings of optimism.

Coffee always tastes better for it.

Good job h347h

What else would you expect said by someone employed by the company to manage the community of the company...

He's not going to say:

"Yes it's amazing, it's all gone well. This has been the best year for us in general due to the money we've made from Jurassic World and the fact that we have such a monopoly on the space game genre that we've been able to park Elite in maintenance mode under the pretense of "a year of focusing on core gameplay updates". All the while keeping the embers burning away with minor updates and marketing hype so that we can resume development in 2019 as if nothing had happened."

Yeah most of us left the SC forums a few years ago so we aren't as synical.

Maybe in the UK. In the US they always take a vacation.

Yeah, having an FD employee telling us how great things are doesn't really mean much. You'd expect that sort of thing.

I'm enjoying the game, as many others are. The users are the ones who determine if a game is going great.

Where's Bazmeson when you need him?

Well, even though the past two years or so has killed the game for me, it's good to hear it's (hopefully) doing better than ever. My hope is the past two years was some mad blip and the design ethos is set to change, mainly starting in Q4... And specially with the Q4 DLC or, more likely, ED 4.0 when atmospheric landings arrive... Hopefully there will then be some content to bring me back!

I hope so!

You sir seem to have a firm grip on reality.
It is good to see people being realistic instead of going for the hype.

Truly Dead. Yup. This game is dead.

This Game Is As Dead As...

... a door nail.
... disco.
... the dodo.
... snail mail.
... the land line.
... David Schwimmer's career.
... Germany's bid for World Cup 2018.
... ???

Keep it going folks. What would you say this game is as dead as?

That salt is bad with this one. I really feel for you. Hope you get better soon.

It's a possibility...

But what if Q4s update is impressive/sizeable? And/or the Q4 DLC is impressive/sizeable? And/or ED 4.0 (I assume due for Q1-Q3 2019) is impressive/sizeable? eg: Atmospheric landings arrive?

Surely none of that would be the case with the game in "maintenance mode" so far this year?
