Game needs to be pulled

In my humble opinion, this needs to be pulled from sale, we need to go back to horizons and the devs need to go away and rethink this whole thing from the legs up and outward... The direction the game is going in, the current state of it.
What is it all for ? If not to grind for materials ? That's the infinity of space and the milky way, all the interesting stories you could tell, and things you could do.
I hate to do the comparison but no man's sky added so much stuff to it's game, FOR FREE
This isn't worth it.

No it doesn't

Welcome to the Orange Sidewinder club. Grab a drink and enjoy the view...
I've been in that club all day - just got into my other account and was able to sell off my explo / Bio data!
Looks a little more positive - now to see if this account can get in!

I hate to say it but you're probably right. It will never happen, but a refund and apology and a
rebake for 6-10 months is actually in order. I initially thought they could just leave it place and fix it, but it's so broken I don't think that's realistic. It's looking right now like it's going to take Horizons down with it.

I believe they should move all the Odyssey players into a Beta server setup.
Revert and fix the crap that's stopping people from even being about to play Horizons.

Odyssey is currently Beta level code, no doubt or question about it. Bits of it work for a some people, other people either can't play at all or can't play at acceptably frame rates.
Just look at the number of threads and the variety of issues. It's not like Odyssey has a single specific problem - it has multiple issues that range from so broken people can't play to so bad people don't want to do play.

As for the direction, I'm not a fan of Conflict zones : it's basically feels like Unreal Tournament from from 20 years ago - except we only have one game mode, we have less weapons, less variety of opponents and only one map ( all the conflict zones I saw in the Alpha where basically the same buildings just moved about a bit ).

Anyone defending the ground combat needs to ask themselves, does the combat feel any where near as good as Doom 2016 ? are the frame rates comparable ? is the variety of weapons and enemies comparable ? is the graphics quality comparable ? - to me the only comparable thing from Odyssey is the price. In every other detail Odyssey is not even close.

Admitting openly it's in beta would be a nail in the coffin. They'd be on a par with that other title I need not name. And look how that's going....!
Guess we just suck it up and get on with clearing the bugs.

I think like everyone we want it to be good, I don't want games to fail, they should be held to account for this though, charging money for something so broken. I just floated the idea it should be removed from sale so unsuspecting customers are duped I want them to fix and improve it and apologise

100% agree. I don't know what it's trying to be. I'm sticking to horizons if it still works

23k in Steam right now. Figure has been steady all week, it is likely to break the record player count later tonight. That many are having issues, me included, doesn't mean everyone else is. It's clearly a little more nuanced than that. Where it gets particularly confusing is when similar spec machines seem to have very different experiences.

That doesn't count the players who don't log in through steam either - quite impressive for broken, in my opinion.

I too have been trying to get in throughout today, no joy, but was able to get in on both accounts a few minutes back. Perhaps they fed the hamsters!

There's 20k online right now and a 24 hr peak of 26k. Im not sure they'd want it pulled and no, I can't play either....

If you are talking about steam numbers just to clarify steam is counting if the launcher is open, its how i have like 600 hours in game because i close the game but leave the a launcher open all day or all night long. so.

Yeap, this.
When the launcher is open, the steam reports the Elite is running.

I had my launcher open for most of the weekend, so i was counted as "playing" ED
But it's almost a day since i was last able to log in the game - since i'm getting Orange Sidewinders in both clients.

Loved ED Horizons. I've given Odyssey an honest good try. Its just not ready.

I had one chance to have an awesome first experience. As FDev called it, my "Neil Armstrong" moment. It sucked.

I got better things to do than play a broken game not ready for public release. See ya in 3-6 months.

Edit:
Its not just a rocky start-up. There are too many things wrong. Its not going to be a fantastic play experience by next weekend. I play games to relax and have fun. When the game is ready I will play it.

I just finished another 3 hour session of EDO riddled with problems (bugs, performance, stability). I'm not enjoying this, and it looks like :poop: currently so even sightseeing isn't really a satisfying option.

It's gone to the stage where I don't even want to boot up EDH. Think I'll give this a break for a while until things improve. Given the amount of issues with it god knows how long that'll be.

Gutted, as I used to play Elite on an almost daily basis.

The numbers always go up like that when E/D Horizons goes on sale in the steam bargain bin.

Calling it like I see it...

FD management made a decision and overhead won out over quality. There is simply no other way to look at it at this point. It was a CFO decision to take the money and fix the game later.

The 'bottom line' model has it's demons and FD's management has invited them into the game. Their choice was to run with it.

"Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead"

Inclined to agree - I purchased and played CP2077 at launch - it was a mess but still playable to the extent that I was in awe of its audiovisuals and the main story line, so actually completed it (about 60 hours net) despite the various glitches and bugs, which were often funny if nothing else, and visual mostly in my experience.

This on the other hand is so broken on a fundamental level, literally anything I do I run into at least one problem if not a couple at a time. It's really widespread.

I hear people have a good time playing it and I'm happy for them, but I'm either really unlucky or they focus on areas that aren't riddled with issues (exploration possibly). What is objectively wrong though are the visuals - there's clearly something missing, bloom, shaders, lighting, colours don't make sense and the game is so dark the only way to see a planet is to check where there are no (barely visible) stars - it's tone in tone black otherwise.

So exploration for me is also out. I'd rather wait until they fix at least the visuals before I dive in as I don't want to ruin my enjoyment of experiencing new environments the way things are right now.
