"GAME" Not "JOB"

We must be playing different games, because in my game during jousts they ram like crazy mofos even on the verge of destruction.
The only time I see this happen is when both you and the NPC face tank each other and both of you fly full throttle forward into each other. So who rammed who???
If you stand still they fly around you, if you use lateral thrusters they fly around you. It's really not that hard...YOU should stop ramming the NPCs ;)
thought it would be usual grind to get fighting ship and be space fighter. seemed cool got new ships guns did the Grind
There is no grind to get a combat ship. You start with one.
It sounds like you are saying everything is a grind :(
I don't think people know what the word "grind" means any more...bit like 10 years ago when everyone started using the word "offended" when anyone says anything that remotely disagrees with them. Sad times :(

But they don’t ram you exclusively and not shoot at you at all, my experience differs from yours as even when a collision would be useful I find it difficult to arrange.

I think of it as a hobby. A 100 piece jigsaw is completed quickly but doesn't offer much challenge time & time again, a more complex puzzle takes longer but is more satisfying to complete.

It is a game about flying spaceships with guns & armour, NPCs will shoot at you & working out how to survive that can be considered another puzzle to solve, or a skill to learn.

elite may be like a 1000 piece puzzle, but there only appear to be about 4 different pieces. Just lots of them repeated over and over.

what I'm getting at does anyone know a cool space "GAME" to play thats not a full time job and actually entertaining to play ??
I hear Everspace 1 and 2 are good for this type of gameplay. Infinity Battlescape might also be worth looking at. For once I will NOT be recommending Space Engineers, not based on the OP's criteria.

Can I suggest "Wing Commander: Privateer"? Same basic game play, much easier. Start with a small ship, do trading and combat missions, and even a storyline to follow!

In all seriousness, nostalgia for Privateer is what got me into this game :)

I prefer privateer 2... That said, if the OP is finding just playing a space trading combat game a chore, imagine how much patience he would have with trying to get either game to run on a modern system... There wouldn't be enough cheese in the world to go with that whine

I could also try to recommend X3 (and all of it's siblings) though he'd most likely die in approximately 5 mins on those too...

Yes as suggested Everspace is quite good as an arcade type shooter with a good story line. Everspace 2 is even better imo but it is also in early access for now so you'd have to remember that if you purchase.
I am assuming exploration is out of the question according to the original post.

Based on title of this thread the OP doesn't like the game.

Going onto official ED game forum asking for advice on different space game to play because don't like ED seems kinda dumb.

Use google.

OP.
Sincerely sorry you feel that way CMDR. After a 2 year break, I did a reset 2 days ago. I've already sunk 15 hours and am loving Elite again.

Re interdictions. I didnt have any problems evading NPC interdictions in my D rated unengineered cobra. What ships were you flying?
