Newcomer / Intro Game Overlap... with Needing Thargoid Tech

Hello

So, I need some advice. I am currently working on fully unlocking Professor Palin and I need a corrosive resistant cargo rack for collecting a number of Thargoid Sensor Fragments. I flew to HIP 17403 A 4 A and found the crashed Thargoid ship and, thankfully I could NOT collect Fragments, as they have a corrosive effect. Here's the game overlap... as soon as I left HIP 17403 A 4 A, I was brought out of my Hyperspace jump by a Thargoid ship and scanned. Thankfully, I did not have any sensor fragments or I would have been attacked. How then do you gather the sensor fragments if you're almost certainly going to be interdicted by a Thargoid ship? My ship is not capable of fighting Thargoids, but I need Thargoid Sensor Frags. Is it possible to be interdicted with a cargo load of Thargoid sensor fragments and escape a hostile Thargoid interdiction? Can I lock a star system and boost like a mad-man until I jump out, or will the Thargoid ship disable, or even destroy me, before I have a chance to jump away? Is there an easier way to collect these Palin requested Sensor Fragments than going to HIP 17403 A 4 A? I say this is game overlap because I'm working on a PVP Combat ship, and need the G5 Thrusters from Palin, but can't get them without messing around the Thargoids, and my ship is not engineered to mess with them.

Thanks!

Unless something changed (It's been years since I did this) you DON'T need a corrosion resistant racks, actually. When you find the probe thingy on the ground, just shoot it to pieces (sensor fragments). They are no longer corrosive when you pick them up, unlike the probe itself.
If you have the probes in your cargo hold, they will corrode your ship and if you get caught by the Goids, they will most probably try to destroy you. But if you shoot up the probes and only carry the fragments, you should be completely fine.

That's exactly what I did. I found the "Thargoid Sensors" you have to shoot to release the "Fragments" and picked up a 1 fragment and it almost immediately started to corrode random modules, to the point I just had to drop it from my SRV, and that was just a single fragment, not the entire Sensor.

Perhaps it's patched and now these fragments are corrosive as Op said.
Either unlock guardian corrosive cargo holds which is....time consuming...or shinartra system and buy them from jameson memorial. But their small. You'd need a few.

for me it was like everytime unless something changed, mabe you picked up other too.

Thought about it and it can´t be that way cause its a material and you keep your material when you change ships, so every ship would corode with no corrosive cargo racks and thats not the case. Think op picked up some Cargo too.

I want to unlock and purchase the 4E 16t Corrosive Rack from a Tech Broker, as the others are much smaller, like 1 or 2t. Would take forever to gather Sensor Frags and drop them to Palin, even the 16t will take a few runs back and forth, but the real question is... how to deal with Thargoid interdiction with a load of their Sensor Frags? They will kill me.

Hmm, it's possible but I think I only had one Fragment in my SRV cargo, quickly eating away at my modules. I can try again, I am right there... maybe I missed an entire Sensor I had picked up. Not sure, but would bet money I only had 1 sensor fragment in my SRV cargo. I will try again but let's say I did make a mistake and frags are not "Corrosive" and I can go back and pickup all 25 (50 really) I need. How then to avoid or escape Thargoids if interdicted?

gues i was the sensor, sensor is cargo so it goes to your cargo rack and you can see it in your inventory. Sensor Fragmensts are Materials you ca see it in your Material tab. Should be possible. You can pick up all at once but you have to play the relog game.

Thats the damm learning curve in ED stuff like that happens take it easy and enjoy

You don´t have to avoid them the don´t harm you with only material on board i don´t think they attack you with cargo too but i never tested it, i know they steal those lifesaver pots. Just let them frezze you and dont attack or ram just wait and jump out.

Interdictions are rondom most of the time the won´t interdict you.

I once would have bet money i didn´t fly 500 ly in the wrong diiration :) but the typo in rootploot .....

Ahh! Ok, so if the Fragments are in "Materials" and not Cargo, then I did have a Sensor in my cargo, because I had something in my cargo. I will log back in and see. If you're correct, then I should have a Sensor Fragment in my Materials inventory, as I know I picked up one that I shot out of the Sensor, but I must have picked up an entire sensor also! Thank you! That would be awesome if the Frags are not corrosive, then I don't need to mess with corrosive rack right now for Palin! I am sure I will need it at some point, and I do plan on building a "Bug Killer" but I am a LONG way from that point in my Elite career ;) Thanks!

Oh good cos I was sure the fragments are not corrosive but i did it ages ago it could be patched. Glad it's clear now.
YES! Awesome! I must have had an entire Thargoid Sensor in my SRV Cargo because I have 9 Sensor Fragments in my Inventory! Sweet! They are NOT corrosive and do not take cargo space. Whew, that's a load off, and, I was stopped by a Thargoid ship, scanned and let go WITH the 9 Frags in my inventory, so they don't care. Wow, that's a load off the grind! :)

Thanks!

Unless you are in a Non Human Signal Source encounters with Thargoids are pretty rare, I have been playing since before the Thargoids reappeared and have been pulled out of hyper jump by them once in all that time.
Though there were rumours that those interceptions were more likely if your ship had ever picked up corrosive damage from hauling bits of Thargoid about.

That was my first Thargoid in the nearly 5 years I've been playing this game. This last time, when I finally picked up the sensor frags, no interdiction, however... on the way to Palin, I was pulled out again by 3 Thargoid ships! I could not see them, they were behind me and had knocked out any ship control. I just had to sit there, with the 3 red Thargoid indicators on the scanner showing them right behind me. They scanned me, twice and bailed. I thought I was dead right there, but they left and so did I. Ha! It's odd that they did not come into view, every video I've watched on Thargoids shows them coming around from the back or side into view after an interdiction. Not in my case. I wanted to see all three of them, I hit record but nope :(

it cheese but you can relog on the side and get new material every time to you don´t have to fly more toures
Thanks. I relog all the time. A few times a week I'll go to Dav's Hope or some crashed ship, or base to scan and just spend a few hours collecting, relog, collect, relog, collect... The day they NERF relogging, I am packing up my HOTAS if they don't replace relog with some other form of collecting all the stuff you need. The game would be unplayable.
