Game's future

We are 4 years after the release, the fact that this many folks still plays the game regularly is great compared to other titles. Future? No idea but from my perspective we are looking at Elite at its full potential, for me its end of the journey, time to move on. I was expecting many things and now I feel salty, disappointed and even cheated a little.

Bazmeson is waiting for you in paradise.

no not really, MMOs have usually longer timespan, and Fdev is selling ED as an MMO,

look at eve online, world of warcraft, final fantasy 14, still very much alive after much longer time
oh also their updates recieved much more content

me and my friends are giggling at amount of fanboys, whiteknights and apologists (one even seem to have made whole thread to somewhat excuse steamcharts) that attacked this thread

oh and yes i know im right from amount of REP im recieving for first post

The graph shows wrong data and just because you are unable to understand simple logic it doesn't give you a reason to giggle. Unless it's your own ignorance that amuses you.

PS
By the way, how is it worse to create a thread highlighting a specific flaw on steamchart graphs than creating a thread using false data to claim that the game is dying?

Yeah true but we both know ED is no where near the definition of proper MMO and FD is greatly misleading folks by selling this game as such.

to be honest, when i was much younger, i was very much into spacegames, i saw ed, saw some youtube videos about it and bought it, seeing it had MMO tag
then i discovered is more of a borderlands kind of multiplayer than anything

and the reason people stick with elite because they are probably 30+ year old people who played first elite, have no idea what kind of gaming standards are these days, and come to forums defending the game through blood even though the game is in obvious trouble, which even many and most famous ED youtubers point out, but its best to just ignore them really

dude why are you so uptight about the steam charts, just go check youtube trailer comment section or go ask around in playerfactions how are their members doing, it was just one comparison that seems to have gotten your blood going

I'm old. I love ED. Doom confirmed.

I honestly think a lot of these people need to just take a break from the game and then come back.

I still love Elite Dangerous, but I've finally cut back so that I could play other games in my back log. I've been enjoying Fall Out 4 (with all the DLC) and No Man's Sky (purchased at half price right after the NEXT patch a week or so ago). I've also been playing "We Need to Go Deeper" with friends and occasionally go back to Subnautica as well.

None of these games are a replacement for Elite. Playing something different for awhile allows you to not be so grumpy over those minor (or not so minor) flaws in a game you love, like ED.

What I have really cut back on is reading these forums. Since there is no major "Focused Feedback" or other content to debate, the boards have become very, very toxic. I'm sure it will pass in time... [noob]

PMF numbers higher than ever.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm the exact opposite of what you propose.

I HATED the original Elite (possibly due to the implementation on Apple IIs) and had zero interest in any of the sequels. I did play all the Wing Commander games, X-Com, and Star Control 1 and 2 back in the day. However, I really was NOT craving a space sim. I laughed off Star Citizen when it was first proposed/first round of crowd funding - though they finally seem to be making some progress.

I stumbled into this game by accident. My cousin backed it in Beta, but never played it. So I tried his account (right after Horizons launched) and fell in love with it. I immediately bought both ED and Horizons that December (2015) and have been playing it a lot since.

Not know what gaming standards are today? Uh, what? I enjoy Skyrim and Fallout 3 and 4. I also enjoy Far Cry 1, 3, and 4 (haven't bought 5 yet). I laugh at the triple AAA titles like Call of Duty while enjoying the new Wolfenstein games.

So yes, I'm nearly 50. I do know what passes for quality games today and I don't give ED a pass because of nostalgia nor for a desperate desire to play a space sim. Honestly, the button ED pushes for me is more akin to old computer game Autoduel, which was based on the board game Car Wars. And when I want to play something else, I do. [yesnod]

Disappointment with elite dangerous is generally increasing.
Comment sections on trailers are getting more and more negative and toxic. (check new trailer comment section)
People dont expect anything great anymore from Fdevs.

Put the time on half year or year, you can see decreasing playerbase in this game after thargoids got released.

Either frontier wakes up, or this game is going to die sooner than they expected.

Many people from player faction im part of are slowly leaving or taking long term breaks, myself included.

I dont think this is the "there will always be unhappy minority" case

And yes, im making this thread, because i want to see other peoples opinions and reactions.

Please let me know what game that is out right now that is going to "replace" Elite Dangerous? There is nothing even close to Elite on the market right now. So please stop with all the doom and gloom posts.

Sorry OP - still haven't had time to read - still too busy playing - and almost ran out of fuel!

I'm certain those of us who've been gaming longer than you've been alive are much more aware about gaming standards than someone probably barely 18.

Also, blazblue is a trash looking game. ;)

It's funny how when people complain about this game there's 10 pages of drama but when people post topics about genuine ways to improve the game, no one responds.

I'm starting to see a trend here....

Dang it. I repped you for the wrong post. This is the one I should've repped. Well said, Bro.
