My expectations of new content? More PvE trophies to use to chase PvP goals!

And probably an announcement on something to do with another cash injection...paid DLC or expansion.

I would love that, too. But I cannot really see it happening. They want an announcement they can rah-rah at a games convention. Whilst the existing players will understand what tier 2 NPCs would add, I cannot see non-players having an orgasm over it. Indeed, any that have thought about it (probably very few) may well expect them to already be there.

No, FD want to rah-rah a big new sexy feature. The expansions FD have already talked about fit that bill. There may be another thing from out in left field that does it (in the way that PP tried, but failed). I doubt it will be what I want most of all (proper exploration as per the DDA), because that probably also fails to meet the 'sexy feature' requirement.

So I am not holding my breath. If I am enthused by what it turns out to be, then great. If not, then I will not be surprised - I am 0/3 (0/4 if you include CQC) on their post-live releases.
Can't fault either of you. But I'm still keeping the faith for the long term. PP not so interesting for me. CQC, we'll see, could be fun and hope they can re-use the assets in-game. Wish CQC was called Proving Grounds, sounded better to me.

Planetary Landings is sexy and airless worlds could well be ready after 7 months. I don't think the stellar forge crew have been heard from since release have they, he, them, or whatever?

Anyway, speculating can be fun- I pegged CQC right on and PP seemed a bit obvious except for how it was implemented. But of course at the end of the day it matters not a bit, FD will march on with their roadmap, the good news is they are marching on. It does seem FD have downplayed the terms a bit for the coming reveal, at least for now. MB said what they will announce is 'cool', but not like "the biggest update yet". This makes me think no Planet Landing or walking about but who knows, maybe they will totally underplay something that is really more interesting than CG and PP to a lot of us.

There should be a market for release predictions some clever web coder could put together. :)

One big hope- that FD hears the cynicism on the forum- it has been pretty apparent and higher volume than ever, including long-time supporters. FD says they listen, so perhaps Gamescom will give an indication if those not happy with CG, PP and CQC have been vocal enough. Count me in as non-plussed myself, I just think we are armchair quarterbacking against a team that had basically run out of money and wanted to move on two fronts players were really engaging to see if it would help drive sales: the background sim of political factions and consensual PvP, and of course the console market where players expect some sort of arena mode. Let's hope the good sales post-launch inform them that the core game is the strength, and they need to get back to the core with DDA and "content" implementations with a vengeance.
 
There are a lot of room for further development in ED for sure, however I feel that the $300 i send was well spend. In SC I'm on a +2k budget, insane? well that still need to be seen, however I'm more impressed with what FD did until now that I am with CIG. And you can take that to the bank.
I too am more impressed by ED than SC, I think that was pretty apparent in my post. My point was though that neither of them seem to be going in the direction they originally envisaged. While I hope that ED can come back more into line with DB's, and many of the players future dreams for the future, I just hope we are not heading onwards further off that path until there is very little left those dreams.
I feel fairly ambivalent towards expansions on other systems and realise it is necessary for a continuing revenue income. What does worry me are the way new features never before mentioned, aka PP CQC, appear out of the blue while as I said DB's original ideas seem to lie gathering dust like a once read favourite book on a shelf somewhere.

Something secret huh... How about a full Client-Server architecture? Maybe make the game into a proper MMOSETFM (MMO Space Exploration Trading Fighting Mining) game? Too much to ask for?
 
Okay, so I can't find the image myself right now (I'll edit this post as and when I do) and don't have the game in front of me to go digging into the file structure myself. HOWEVER, surrounding the debacle with the Powerplay weapons and people's overall disappointment with them someone shared a rather interesting screencap of the additional files added to the ED file structure with the release of 1.3

Obviously the vast majority of them were related to the PP weapons, but there was a proverbial elephant in the room that it seems no-one, at least from my browsing, has spoken about. There's a new file/directory called 'Int_PassengerCabins'. Now, given the alst time people went poking around in the files they found the references to the CQC modes such and, lo and behold CQC was announced at E3, I suspect, very heavily, that the announcement at Gamescom will be surrounding passenger missions AT LEAST.

I did some searching in the ED system files and found some interesting stuff.

The coolest thing i could find was the outpost stuff maybe we can start to make out own outposts?

I am not a programmer i just went through every folder for this game to find this stuff.

NOw it doesnt mean all this is getting added to the game. I did see folder for the bobbleheads still out there and they havnt been back in the game. And it was the same bobbleheads from the beginning and no new ones :p

The outpost and ammo thing look cool and new weapon.

Does anyone know if the stuff i found was in there from the start or was it added from last update?

My bets are on one or multiple version of :
-Modular outpost
-New weapon (like in gamma)
-Walking in ships?
-planetary flight (maybe not walking just yet)
-ATTACK OF THE THARGOIDS FROM SPACE !?
-Astroid lod fix (I would pay for that per month if need be lol)

...both for mining, hacking, defenses etc
you can update them just like hardpoints but they are very expensives and need to be deployed and called back or like in EVE they get lost were you left them
Drone management could become a new way of fighting. Send two drones on two winged NPCs so they gets busy giving you time to deal with the other two wings

Also Salvaging space debris and left cargo. Just look at EVE's salvaging its really fun and cool, like treasure hunting
I blow someone up and salvage their ship/cargo so there is no trace left

Also exploration is fun but I would like to be able to drop a beacon or a means to slowly build a station out of nowhere as long as I bring supplies to it to make it self sustainable...like a deep space research outpost

Then if we could dock on those and walk inside you could start stealing stuff like a real pirate/thief or just blowing up other people's research stations

The options to make this game grow are mind boggling

You mentionned the "has to not be mentionned game" more than one time! The community will curse you!

Well you can mod the game for better graphics. Just google it i seen it done and if you got a good system do it. There are bunch of youtubes on doing it and its easy.

The outpost i think would be sweet and the ammo and new weapons

Or was the ammo and slug weapon in gamma?

don't worry, most of us here have both feet on the "just another CQC talk" area. But we are leaning towards it being abit more than just that....but, FDevs are notorious at just not even bringing up the stuff we want to hear about.

They are actually pretty silent for some time now ... well, maybe they're all on Ibiza, drinking and partying (summer, huh) ... but maybe - and most likely - they are working on something. I am positive, anyway :)

I'm not positive, so to me I feel like they have just ran with the money when they have been silent for too long about something. Like...oh, years.
 
I hope its all the stuff i found in the game system files at least.

That would be a nice little boost to the game.

They must be internally testing those assets i found. Why add those assets in the last update if they are not testing them somehow.

Those assets where also added when Elite: Dangerous 1.3 - Powerplay Changelog update came out.
