Would love it to be core additions but alas I think it will be a paid 'something' no idea what but money will be involved somewhere.

I really don't mind paying if we get a new large chunk of game that adds to the experience.

Besides fixes, core additions and improvements is not something that they will just "release" and be done with; it is an iterative process that will be gradually released through patches and updates.

News on the first paid expansion I reckon, which will be pre-ordered as soon as it is available.

IF they announce an expansion, all that will signify is that FD has no clue about games development............... WHY release an expansion for a broken game? It's clear that many players are not happy, people are leaving and are totally fed up with FD's continual denial/excuses and just plain ignoring the 500lb gorilla in the room. I dont think it will be the expansion, at least I hope NOT, as I for one will NOT be pre-ordering an FD product again, stung once too often :)

Sigh - even the most polished game has someone who will call it broken..Broken is a perspective - we as humans are not perfect- thus we cannot design a perfect system - stop whining the same thing over and over again! The game has been polished quite a lot and we're all ready for some new features - except you!!

Happy for them to keep working on expansions.

But just add some semblance of life to the game.
Show some ships entering and exiting planetary atmosphere (just have a warning pop up that our ship is not currently equipped). Currently the planets are isolated and on one ever enters or leaves.
The same in and around space stations. Show some NPC life .... nothing major needed. Some people walking behind the glass windows in the little buildings we can see through .... perhaps some workmen on pads, etc....

If I were to put money on it I'd go for walking round your ship and anything else that might involve. I usually lose money when I very occasionally have a bet, so I'll be wrong. :)

However I've said previously that because PP was very much a number crunching exercise and did not involve a lot of work from the graphics team that we can expect a good sized slab of graphics based content this time around. So expect lots of pretty things to look at, whatever it might be.

They've sold the Elite: Dangerous franchise to Microsoft

All joking aside, I wouldn't be that surprised if one day it is sold.

Found this interview from last year's GamesCom...

Fascinating, thanks for posting.

DBOBE's passion really shines through, and he explains very well the need to build ED one component at a time.

His vision is very clear, and I am excited about the future for this game.

I would rather see it more like SC. The way they go about talking about what they do...

Whilst I get the gist of your point I couldn't disagree more, and the evidence to date is that this way of working is quiet alien to FDev.

Pardon me for grossly over simplifying, but I would much rather they say very little and continue to iteratively deliver, rather than promise ever increasing grandiose 'pie in the sky' and deliver nowt.

Or to put it another way, I am actually reassured by the almost total cloak of secrecy covering No Man's Sky

Walking around your ship...planetary landings...

For goodness sake I hope not. ED is a space sim not Space SIMS.

What's so bad about landing Ships on planetary bases / spaceports, instead of just hundreds of light years of space cubes?

What's that weird of Ships landing on planets? Seems common in scifi, and actually previous Elite games had planetary landings.

At least they don't overpromise and underdeliver. I'm glad that they're approaching PR this way, somewhat.
I searched and searched, but I couldn't see the emoticon to underline that this was being cynical. You need to be careful with that, some people may even believe that you were being serious.

Well..i don´t know if this was posted before...

Why else do you think people are talking about it?

You will find that all those misguided people who think the core of the game is broken and needs to be fixed before adding more stuff on top of crumbling foundations are quite a big, loud group. Quite possibly because they are right.

Indeed. Every video I see his passion and vision comes shining through. And every video has a different vision*. The reason many kickstarter backers are so disenchanted is that the vision they were sold is not what we see being built. Now, it may well be that FD intend to circle back round and do that stuff later - we don't know and, frankly, even if FD said so most of us would not believe until we see it. Once bitten, twice shy, and all that.

* Yeah, OK, that sentence was hyperbole. But it is very easy to find him saying stuff that bears no resemblance to what has been delivered.

Because it's in effect just spreading the sand thinner rather than putting more in... We're in a huge sandbox, but move a couple of grains of sand and you expose the bottom of the pit.

We need deeper/better game mechanics. We need tiered more involved missions. We need more depth and content in general space flight. We need more content to discover/witness while exploring.

In truth we need a massive dump of better game play/mechanics... It's long long overdue!
