I've been waiting for the release because I didn't want to ruin all the fun playing an unfinished game.
Then I found out that I can get the Gamma, so I gave it a try - it was supposed to be a release candidate anyway.

The game is simply not ready for the release.

You are making a huge mistake, FD. :(

Don't think it's a mistake. The game in the state it's in to someone who's not played it, is infinitely better IMO than anything else out there at the moment. Releasing a buggy build won't put off potential buyers of a release (as opposed to beta/wip crowdfunded type operations) and even with people quitting they will still make enough to keep the project going.

While using head look with my mouse, whilst the X52 Pro is plugged in, the movement moves diagonally down-left when going down and diagonally up-left when moving the mouse upwards. When trying to move the mouse right it moves awkwardly and sluggish. If I set the control binding to mouse/keyboard only, the head look works fine with no problems.

anyone else getting an error when trying to start the game?

Error: 'unable to retrieve commander data from the server. Try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, please contact technical support via the game launcher"

Occurs - selecting START from the main menu

to all these people lamenting why the arbitrary and too-soon release date...its because of the kickstarter.

only upon release/delivery of items can FD actually take in the funds from the kickstarter.
there will also likely be some share movement by DB sometime soon after release.

I think there is a little more to it than that:
- 2014 is the 30th anniversary of original Elite. The 31st anniversary wouldn't be quite as special.
- Christmas is a huge sales period. An unfinished game at Christmas might be a better financial result than a finished game at Easter.

Actually I think you will find that Frontier already have the money as kickstarter releases it after 14 days of the project being successful - not on things being delivered (https://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/creator+questions?ref=faq_nav#AfteYourProjEnds)

Also take into account the kickstarter was to garner if there was enough interest by the public as the financial backers obviously had their heads in the sand as we have been badgering Braben for a follow up to the series,so when the obvious happened and the KS was a huge success the finance backers released the money and it was a lot more than they got on Kickstarter the KS was an incentive for more finance as simple as that really.
