"Refinery communication to server failed - Fragment needs Reallocation"

Over and over and over. Mining impossible.

first you space bar on the ore, then it says "refined" just like normal and the % complete increases accordingly.
Then you click on the secondary ore, space bar on it, and both go back to not processed, with the error message above

Then I logged out and back in, to see if that fixes it and my refinery is empty, from having 2 stacks half done from the previous session, which was about 3 days ago or so!!

This followed by freeze crash about 30 minutes? later... first freezes the image, you can still hear engines starting and stopping if you throttle up or down, everything seems to be working, only you're looking at a still picture. I tried to remember how many times I had to go down in the pause menu to log out, but by that time, it finished crashing and uploaded the crash info to you.

Gamma 1.05 So Far So Good

Hi everyone,

Gamma 1.05 is now live. The change log is as follows:

Crash Fixes
- Fix for crash seen during processing of the render queue

Tweaks and general fixes
- Fix for sudden Starport rotation jumps
- Fix for game time getting out of sync between clients
- Fix for multiple stars having same system address
- Fix for not being able to purchase ships even when player has enough money tied up in their current ship to part exchange
- Added resource loading failure reports
- Added telemetry to help investigate why resource overlays sometimes get into a dead state

Server updates
- Players should once again be eligible for their own stock allocation of rare goods instead of sharing one with everybody shopping at that Station
- Outfitting shops throughout inhabited space should now stock a greater variety of internal modules
- Start creating news articles when minor factions change state in response to Commanders' actions and inactions.
- Minor improvements to server reliability, user presence and matchmaking

Thanks,
Adam

Well I have to say 1.05 after 5 hours of play looks good. I had one crash as I tried to exit the game, but other than that most seems OK. Most noticeable was the reduced number of interdictions in high security space, which I think is good..................but loads when you go into a low security/anarchy system. Just right! The Module distribution is definitely better and is it me wishful thinking?........ but I have found one or two lucrative trade runs that were not there before?

My only criticism is the continuing stutter/freezing on occasions. Really embarrassing when you are entering/exciting a star-port to find your self just about to collide with others in the queue when you "unfreeze". I've got a quad core i7 with a great graphics card so it's definitely a server issue?

So far so good guys. Good luck with the next couple of weeks. :D

Running butter smooth for me. Only suffering with trade routes being almost random and not following the type of economy of the station.

MINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its working again been dien o play for the past few days but i think ma profile data was corrupt XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX so hope the good work continues

Agreed. This is close to my heart because I intend to spend most of my time in ED as a trader. The game does not provide adequate tools for proper or effective trading, currently. It's kinda absurd that I'm supposed to keep notes on a separate system, be it pen & paper or a tablet, in the year 2014 - or 3300, for that matter.

There's been talk about having access to stocks & prices galaxy-wide. This has been shot down by an argument involving radio signals and the speed of light, which is fair. But how about stations and bases transmitting stocks & prices within their solar system? That way you can jump in a system and SC around for a moment while your onboard computer picks up the transmissions, after which you can browse station/base stocks and prices in SC, or drop to normal space to peruse the data at your leisure. Naturally the speed of light would affect this data also and it wouldn't be quite up-to-date. The data should have a timestamp so you'd know how long ago it was originally transmitted.

Yes, the system wide trade and news feed would be something you'd expect would be normal in 3300... but even if we had to land on the stations, the on board trading computer should EASILY be able to record text based data and time/date stamp it so you can see how out of date the data is. This is basic trade computer stuff.

Radio/lightspeed transmission limitations would also mean that wanted levels wouldn't reach the next system either if they want to use that argument.. and so many other "communications" of data traffic would be isolated to systems. What would make more sense is for there to be a mechanism whereby data is stored on ships and carried between systems using hyperspace and then upon reaching another system that data is automatically broadcast and relayed on etc. Pirates and criminals would probably turn this off within their ship's systems but most law-abiding citizens wouldn't mind as it assists them etc

would you be so kind as to include the size of future updates? i am running on satellite internet and i have to decide if its worth updating or waiting till free time.
thank you kindly

Hmm, I thought that the star background flickering was gone with other antialias settings, but it isn't. Only seems to happen (on my pc) when you leave a starport with an interior. That's what I noticed at least.

By the way @developers, not sure whether these are bugs or intentional:
- you can scan an unexplored star from behind a planet.
- exiting system view brings you always to the galaxy view
- when interdicted while you're less than 1000km from a space station you may jump out of supercruise lightseconds away

For the 'nice'-department, it would be nice to see a jump-range boundary in galaxy view like a sphere, or show systems (names) out of range in a less saturated color or something like that.

A jump-sphere sounds good to me (kind of like the yellow pbeta restricted galaxy orb?) and also a different colour to show which systems you've visited and which systems you haven't ever ventured into would be welcomed.

Would be good if a hotkey for the System Map could be added. It wouldn't neccessarily need to be auto mapped but the option would come in handy to use rather than having to select it from the ship menu or go through the Galaxy Map first.

If this refers to the pre-takeoff 2pi spin on the lift during undocking which appears to result from ship having docked on pad in a pre-takeoff orientation then......It's not entirely fixed :(

Just had the pre-launch twirl in Perrin Settlement - System: NLTT46709

Also wondering what "Fix for sudden Starport rotation jumps" means.

Annnd "Fix for multiple stars having same system address" ?

This game is simply not ready to be released, it still has many issues.

So, one of two things is likely to happen.

1) What is ready will seem so good that folk with put up with the problems and simply wait for improvements.

2) Folk will be annoyed that they have spent money for a game which is just not ready (yet) and will simply abandon the game forever.

Frontier is gambling that 1 wins.

On a personal level, I am simply baffled why Frontier set an arbitrary release date rather then getting the game ready, then setting a date for release.

They've done it because of the lucrative christmas period coming up, and the game being in a relatively playable and enjoyable state.

They've always said the game will continue to be patched and improved upon beyond release, and in the future we have the (admittedly ambitious) expansion packs to look forward to.

"Relatively" being the key word here.
