i got that a couple of times, thought it was because i replaced appconfig.xml with my backup version, so returned it to post backup (i rename files i replace with .old at the end) and voila it worked.
so to prove it was MY appconfig.xml at fault i went and renamed new version again replaced with my backup and ....
it worked fine, so suspect it was a weird post patch glitch due to servers.

I haven't heard anyone state this game isn't addictive. It is, in fact it to addictive, I want a refund
