Patch Notes Update Gamma update 2.06 incoming

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all well today, and excited for tomorrow...

Here’s the full change log for Gamma 2.06 which is arriving today. Please let us know if you're still experiencing any problems!

- Prevent missions related softlock when entering a location
- Don't crash in certain cases on game shutdown and frameshifting
- Fix for trails crash
- Fix crash in sensor system
- Prevent crash in skybox generation
- Prevent crash if unable to process a loaded overlay
- Prevent getting stuck when alt-tabbing
- Don't crash if unable to access the mission manager
- Don't crash is user's system can't run the game - show an error instead
- Fix soft lock when entering a procedural dead system that no-one has seen before
- Fix soft lock when the Webservers system data queue is full
- Fix a seen-once crash on failing to get a Chatter table for an AI
- Fixed rare bug where game would get stuck shutting down
- Don't crash if a ship goes live without a fuel tank
- Fix silent hitman randomiser number causing crashes
- Fix jettisoning all cargo attempting to jettison mission critical cargo
- Prevent the server Choking on mission advance when something generated a negative weight
- Do not update the dynamic materials in the galaxy map every frame. Ensure at least one update, and then update again if the visualisation settings ever change
- Reduce chance of usscargodropswithwrecks from spawning outside of missions
- Fix assassin branching transitions and branch feedback
- Disable pipeline renders in screenshots for final build
- Fixed a bunch of rogue fuel scoops that shouldn't be on AI loadouts
- Fix mismatched star system meta-data
- Skip SLI/Crossfire detection if the system contains a single display adapter provided by Intel
- Added linear depth clipping to orbit lines
- Changed the "waste" category to "other" and added the new commodity "slaves" to it
- Fix for incorrect strings being used in some alternative massacre branch text templates
- Format the price of the 'repair all' button correctly

Server side change log on the way.

So no sign of:

1. Further tweaks to rep progression (the trickle-effect means that reputation increases mostly affect the local mission-giver, with only a small fraction of the positive effect going to the galaxy-wide Federation, Alliance or Empire factions; but if you do something illegal - even a relatively minor thing like getting scanned with a few pieces of scavenged cargo - that causes a major hit to your galaxy-wide reputation with the relevant faction, without a "trickle-down" effect. This makes negative versus positive rep progression totally imbalanced for the major factions).

2. Fixes for rep bugs. I am still semi-regularly getting down-repped for completing missions by the faction that gave me the mission.

3. Fixes for NPCs updating your missions or providing alternative objectives during Unidentified Signal Source Encounters. Frequently these encounters make it impossible to complete the mission in the original way. They often also cause the mission text to update incorrectly, so you'll still only see details of the original objective (which often can no longer be completed because of the buggy way the missions update), but contain no details of how to complete it via the alternative path. Worse still, sometimes they make it outright impossible to complete the mission at all (e.g. in Kill X number of Pirates type missions, the kill counter stops working once a USS NPC encounter updates the mission). These USS encounters are the bane of my existence at the minute - they mean I am unwilling to go into a USS when I have delivery missions in my Transactions list; they mean I won't take Massacre (Kill X number of Y type of ships) missions at all.

Unless this gets fixed tonight, are Frontier seriously intended to go to their launch candidate with a reputation system that doesn't make sense or work consistently, and missions that frequently glitch out during USS NPC branch encounters?

These would all be server-side. As in part of the server-side changelog that Michael says is still incoming. Calm down until we see what the server-side changes are.
 
logged in fine, SC fine, Planet lines fixed :) , Running smooth for me, (ATI Radeon Graphic card). everything looks fine in the missions/outfitting/trading tabs.

Just wanted to express 50 shades of enthusiasm, after that good feeling of the last mission. I feel like 30 again! Yeehaw! I love you all!

Got my hotas on order should be here Wednesday. Cannot wait. Im good with keyboard an mouse but should be so much better with sticks whoop whoop. Might buy a eagle to practice first though lol
 
I never had an issue from Beta 1.00 until G2.04 that persisted until this update, but is now resolved. Thanks for your hard work!

I really do feel sorry for you being on a crunch time that likely won't end any time soon...Best wishes. Holiday regards to your families...I'm sure they miss you!
 
Any chance of a reputation fix and restore in the game and for the game before the game goes live?

If get a working game that I am happy and my profile fixed when the game goes live then I'll feel like saying thanks.


I'm with Ben here. Frontier, please prioritise fixing / rebalancing the reputation system ahead of remedying obscure once-encountered soft crash bugs with the AI or discovering dead stars at the back end of the Universe. Reputation is a much bigger priority and it is likely to be a core part most players' game experience in the period following launch.
 
The ammount of money to purchase my ship back is now much higher in 2.06 then it was in 2.05.
I haven't changed any sort of equipment since 2.05.

Same for me, but not 3 times higher perhaps something like a 10% increase over its original value... although the % is still the same..
 
Thanks for update, really appreciate it. Any info about trading? Michael Brookes told us yesterday that you are looking into it and it will be fixed today.
 
The good news is that 2.06 has cured the connection problems for me.

The bad news is that I am still experiencing quarter second stutter/freeze in SC when approaching planets in Yapep. Not sure if I should raise a ticket on this one if its still being looked at.
 
This funny trading market:
12 hours ago I sold Superconductors for 7100 at low demand, now this station sells more than 100.000 tons in medium supply rendering my trade route useless. I wonder if there are too many traders or the system changed again. Time to move on - a new trade route has to be found ^^
 
No - the rank missions should be available. It's the core Imperial systems that are blocked off.

Yes I've seen the imperial (navy) rank missions. Collect commodity X and bring to destination A for promotion was the example I saw. Haven't been able to complete one yet though unfortunately.
