Gathering mats

I just engineered my 5A FSD to g2 of farther range with Felicity Farseer and I see that to go g3 I need phosphorus and that’s it’s collect from the surface of planets. How do I do that?

Look for a planet with a high phosphorus content. Break out your SRV and follow your scanner. I get most of my surface mats while out exploring to break up the jump/honk/supercruise monotony.

Or try a raw materials broker - under contacts in stations. You'd need to search for one if you're in a hurry on INARA or similar. Have other raw mats to swap - exchange rates can be painful.

A good way of finding raw materials is to take passenger sightseeing missions to fumaroles, geysers, and similar planetary features where minerals are popping up out of the ground. Land near the tourist beacon, break out the SRV, go for a drive, and shoot the various crystalline lumps and scoop them up.

If you bookmark the planets, you can find them again when you need more.

You should be able to get a surface mining tutorial on youtube, there are several to choose from which should help you.

Find a body with technetium, molybdenum and chromium as well and trade those down.
If you just need a few, at least it is a super common mat.

Find a smooth-ish, well lit area and learn to fly the SRV.
Covering ground quickly is the best strategy.

I didn’t pin the blueprint and I’m doing farther range, not mass manager

Mass manager increases your range.
It's an experimental effect and it adds to the increased range mod.
If you pin the blueprint you don't have to keep returning to the engineer base, but you can only do the experimental effect there.
