Getting tired of Elite

Hello good people,
It is really really sad, but I'm starting to get a little tired of Elite, the developers have a wrong focus according to my opinion. They focus to much on pvp and combat. I need more exploration and the wonders of space. More player owned and controlled objects. Build stuff in space and on planets. I want planet landing. Flying in the clouds of gas giants or a planet. More player to player trading and teamwork. Hate all their limitations, just so they can make more player vs player competitions out of it. Am I alone in this? :S

Well the game isn't finished. Devs seem to be currently broadening their market to have maximum exposure and get as many people interested as possible to allow them to keep developing as long as possible and make the game we all want. I heard something about a 10 year development life but can't find any quotes or anything to support that.
Wait for the gamecom announcement early August, if it doesn't suit you then leave the game for 6 months or a year and come back refreshed and ready to get stuck in again.

On a more personal note I've seriously cut back my hours recently but when I was playing ridiculous hours per week I kept it varied by mixing professions and trying everything at least once. I did player groups, pvp, mining, roleplaying, pirating, exploration, trading, community goals, powerplay, flipping system into civil war and a ton of other stuff to keep it lively. Mixing it up keeps it going but If you do put in crazy hours you will feel like you've seen it all.

At a guess, it will just take time for them to flesh out the other things in the game, but we don't know the development roadmap or how the teams at FD are coordinated, maybe take a break and come back when you see something you like in the patch notes.

Remember that the devs said right back in the Kickstarter that the big paid expansions would take time, and the first would be about a year after release - so at the moment, it's just a little waiting. They've confirmed repeatedly that planetary landings is coming, and there's some big announcement at Gamescom on 5th August... so I'd say, take a break if you want and come back when what you're waiting for is in :)

yep same here don't play a lot any more got to my lvl cap . ill wait and see what happens with this game . but having lot of fun with World of Warships :D ill come bk in a 5 years time when it has some content ...

Once I did/tried out everything else, tbh PvP and Combat is all that's keeping me interested in the game. Wrong focus? Focus on PvP would be perfectly fine, if it was the case. But sadly it isn't. Even Power Play, which was a great opportunity to encourage PvP was wasted as such and focused on Solo Play with virtually no incentives to do it in open.

CQC? Nope... not interested in an additional game mode that's completely sperate from the main game. But i understand, it's necessary to get the XBox Crowd involved, so it was a very intelligent move to implement it, which I respect.

So a development focus on improving PvP would be really appreciated with combat logging still being the most serious issue currently, IMHO. Everything else is futile in this regard, as long, as that's not fixed.

The last thing this game needs is players building and owning stations. Having the universe turn into a minefield of player owned assets, with some not letting you dock or refuel because the owner is an 11 year old kid who has been sent to bed early for swearing, will not a good game make.

And why planetary landings? People keep on thinking this will be like Star Trek or something with loads of worlds to explore. What we're going to get is the same 12 or 13 worlds, skinned differently, repeated endlessly. That's not a criticism of Frontier, that's just acknowledging the limitations of the technology of today as well as the small size and resources of Frontier compared to, for example, Rockstar or Ubisoft.

Hey, you are doing great! I got bored of Elite back around the 1990s, around the time Frontier came out!

Ok, joking aside. Exploration is my main profession, and while it would be nice to see more exploration related content, i've pumped hundreds of hours into it and still love it. Each to their own I suppose.

But i'm not sure how player owned objects come into it then... i mean, there is another recent thread about this that you might want to get involved in. And planetary landings is coming eventually as an expansion. I'm not certain you will get your wish ever though if you want this game to be a remake of X... its not what FD are after here i think.

So, my suggestion, take a break (its allowed! ;)) and come back later when you have had a play of something else (perhaps the X series if station building is what you want), perhaps wait for the first expansion before returning.

I agree with the too much focus on PvP and combat, but at the same time understand the reasons. Exploration is fine at the moment, but does need planetary fly bys at least. What i dont want is player owned stuff and building, nor do I want more teamwork, as I like being a lonewolf.

You know what i like to see. A community goal to build a station on the other side of the galaxy so people can leave the Federation,Empire, and Alliance to destroy each other with power play. The can even call it the New world. Escape from the powers.

personally i like the combat, but i have to agree the game feels a bit maladjusted right now.

yesterday was the first day since ED's release that i didn't load it up at all. today is the second. now i'm just keeping an eye on the forums to see if any changes are afoot...

This was always the issue the second they decided to make it MP and allow the competitive side of it. It is at the core of the game so is just something we all have to accept.

That being said, the game will not change for you, so you need to change your expectations for the game. your number 1 essential course of action is to take a breather and come back in a few months time. in the meantime it is not like there are not heaps and heaps of bloody good games to pass the time.

Powerplay was a little bit disappointing for me. I went through all the tutorials, and it is just to scripted, static and boring. And now C&C, which will be like an arena combat. Nothing that thrills me even a little bit. Maybe fun on a console?
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to hearing what they come up with at Gamescon. Everyone that I played with have already stopped playing, and not many hours from my part either.
Suggestions:
- more teamwork, (-more than only 4 players in group -Direct player 2 player trade, even credits) Possible to scan asteroid-fields and find out what resources are there and quantity, maybe even purity before you go there with your mining vessel.
- Lower the bounty prices, make the goods they drop the reward instead. (Should not be illegal to pick up a wanted pirates goods) Again teamwork, no cargo space, less reward.
- Planet landing with mining and rare stuff to find. It will also make the game brighter. It is so dark in space.
- Travel even without any ship as a passenger to move around or tag along with a friend. (So you can move your ships around)
- Your own installations. (Spaceport, space-hut, hire NPC defence/police. factory, mining installation etc.) Let it be teamwork to build some of these. And resources, not only credits.

Make the game a little more personal. Today I fight other players to get the kill of a doomed NPC. It's boring!

Am I alone in this? :S

No.

After PP i played a few hours and became bored quickly again.

Even the combat is just beam lasers + shield cell spamming...the game needs more X ( Outposts to own and NPC's/Ships to hire ), much more content for exploration, a few surprises in space and several new hud designs.

Same with me, but I am still not calling it "tired of" or "boring", I am still playing to relax. Elite Dangerous is relaxing. Thats not only positive, there is a negative component in it, which I may call "boring" later.

I miss a player driven environment to interact with or to contribute to. I cant see anything in the game which deserves this attribute.

Yes, I want all that as well. I figure they need to bring in more money before they can create all that. Keep fingers crossed.

No brother, not alone at all. Just read the first 5 pages of the general discussion board, you will find that there is a huge crowd by now saying what you just said. And this isn't new either.
But hey, CQC Xbox pew-pew crowd needs something until the Ritalin kicks in so... just forget about it and play something else.

Hello good people,
They focus to much on pvp and combat.

The most powerful feature of any MMORPG tends to be PvP, which is not surprising given it’s designed to bring players together from around the world. Like other MMORPG, PvP isn’t necessarily mandatory for you to play. Personally I don’t care for PvP although I know others do, which is good for them. Doesn’t currently affect my game as I can do other things.

Does seem strange to build a combat arena when instancing is so unreliable.
