Getting use out of those X52 extras (pic hvy)

You can use the pinkie AND have 3 modes - I have one each set up for landing, flight and combat with macroed commands to raise/lower the gear, open gunports and disable things like boost buttons when landing. All of this on the rotary on the flight stick with the pretty colours.

I also make use of the i button for FA off and the slider for zoom in/zoom out on the radar (using thresholds)

If anyone wants more info - just shout.

are you using the non-pro the OP is referring to?
If so I'd be very interested to know how you did the macroed commands.

ps Thanks Calaban - very kind of you to put your instructions up for the non pro, I'm sure there are many folk who will find it useful.

Ooops - silly me. I'm using the Pro. Well - the offer is still there - anyone want to do that with the Pro, just shout. I've had two requests for my setup file, custom binds and a brief text tutorial so far and no complaints.

Though, if they've smashed themselves into the side of the station, I accept no responsibility whatsoever.

smashing one's ship into the side of the station can happen what ever controls you use! :D

I'm still learning

Hey id be very interested in your file!

For those confused as to the purpose of this, I ask the simplest question: can you set your pinky trigger to fire weapon2?

If not, then that is the point of the profile.

Without a profile specifically deprogramming that trigger, it will default to a shift state, and be unuseable in game.

yes i can.
I have mine set to hold reverse. So I just pinky on for reverse thrust.

every button, axis and hat can be programed from within the game.

but then, I am still unsure if it something to do with the software version i have. I am able to select "clear profile" on the profile launcher.

Omegahunter - e-mail received - files on their way later.
Funkcanna - send me an e-mail address by PM and I'll send it over with some destructions.

Thankyou much. My X52 works ok if I use the disk that came with it with the old drivers but things (eg: pinky switch) stopped working when I installed the newer drivers, and some buttons never worked. I knew it was something like this, just hadn't thought it through and your slideshow will really help a lot. Now I should be able to get the extra buttons etc working with the latest drivers. Well done, +1 rep for you. :)

I just got my new X52 (not Pro) yesterday and set all up. But I only can use the directions, throttle and fire buttons. everything else seems to fail or not working. Do I have to install the old Drivers? :S

I also tried to set everything to unprogramm as descriped, but doesn't work either. I looks like ED recognize the buttons in conrol configuration, but when i press it ingame it doens't make anything.

Has anybody else had this problems?

Also props to all the help and insctructions here. Hard to find something usefull for X52 calibration elsewhere.

Hope i can set everything on the HOTAS, because it will get hard with an oculus on an have to use the keyboard additonally :D But I'm still in learning period.

Just wanted to report that it finally works. not shure what I have done exactly, but maybe the programming startet work after reboot or something. Maybe ED doesn't like if you change the programming and the game is still running in the background.

Again thanks to you all for the instructions!

For those that e-mailed me - profiles and keybinds sent. If you need destructions, just shout and I can talk you through them.

Possum - yours has been sent, too!

At this rate I should write up how it works and host the file somewhere. Maybe an early morning job for tomorrow.

Can I have some feedback from anyone who has had it? (Also - apologies to the OP for thread hijack here!)

Cheers OP, been waiting for someone to explore this territory for a while and post about it. Unable to try this for a week or three, but am eager to - will come back and +rep you when I've got it sorted!

Wanted to get the analogue sliders working for a long time, this is what I've been looking for... Hope I can get it to work!

I have given up with the X52 software, even on a clean install it causes so many problems in my system. I just install the drivers and let the game handle binding. Works well with voice attack but cant seem to configure the x52 for the galaxy map.

Guus. Had feedback that the bindings file is not working.... was it ok?

Seems to be working out great so far. I've been doing scenarios just trying to relearn muscle memory from the previous setup I had.

I've really only messed around with Mode 1 since that seems to be setup for flight/dog fighting. I'll have to learn the other 2 modes. I looks like Mode 2 is for hyperdrive / supercruse and Mode 3 I'm guessing is more for docking.

This is going to take some getting used to but seems pretty awesome and way more robust than the default profile for X52 Pro. Thanks again!

Gave your full configs a test last night and worked without issue.

Do like the way you have used the mode wheel to change flight conditions, was looking at doing the same thing myself and had already setup up
"Combat mode", "Flight mode" and "Docking mode" in the saitek controller. Just had no idea how to go from there.

The one thing I wanted to start with was getting the radar scaling working right on the "Precision Slide". Thanks to your help I think I've now got it almost perfect.

Set Up five bands as follows (- "decrease radar" = "increase radar")

1: 0%-10% "- - - -"

2: 10%-25% "- - - - ="

3: 25%-45% "- - - - = ="

4: 45%-90% "= = = = -"

5: 90%-100% "= = = ="

With a Time Delay of 0.02 seconds used between the commands to give the "Beta" time to read each key and you get a smoove change between each setting.

This matches the scale adjustments seen on the HUD but looking at small changes to make selecting the lower end easier.

An evenly spaced setup might work well for some.

But it was the timing of the delay that made it work with the least number of keypresses.

You're welcome, chaps. I've not yet found a use for the two rotaries on the left, though I suspect I'll use one for lowering the scoops - with the same banding as the precision slider.

The theory is that the keyboard becomes redundant for all but messaging. I'm working on macro-ing up the open voice comms option on the current target. Already macroed up some hailing messages for the text chatter part. I accidentally told the station to "stand and deliver" earlier. Luckily, it didn't hear me.

Its the same for me the "Rotors" don't seem to be very useful in Elite atm.

I'm thinking that they could be used for power management with the Mode selector modifier.

IE: in combat mode move from 4 pips to the weapons / balanced / 4 pips to the engines and the lower one is a toggle to swap weapons with system as a shift button.

Really don't like having the power management on the lower stick hat switch as it gets knocked in combat.

Will let you know what I come up with.
