Getting wanted lvl by hitting wanted enemy before its scanned... really?!

Jezus this forum is filled with so many fanboys that I dont even know why I bother writing the posts. From now on I'll just spam tickets. This is pointless.

You did not just...Yes!!! That is exactly what i think literally every day. Have my rep and my admiration. I was afraid to say something like that since mods already dont like me around here. But that was just YAS!!! Well god damn said son well said !!

I have also been fined for shooting at a wanted target before scanning has finished. Wanted is wanted. You should not have to scan a wanted target. Also, I have dormant fines that I cannot pay, and an active fine that I cannot pay. This is spoiling the whole game for me

A target's Wanted status of itself is irrelevant to your own galactic legal ability to do anything regarding said status. You are not a law-enforcement officer of any stripe; you are an armed freelance civilian who needs legal permission to murder strangers in local jurisdictions. Real police don't enjoy uninvited armed backup, either, and the space police will kill you over parking violations. If you got issued a temp badge and a call from the Sarge, sure, empty your clip. But do that first.

You NEED the clearance, Clarence, and zero getting around it. Find out first or be the next Wanted target.

OK, there's one little thing I don't understand.

If you are bounty hunting properly, as it supposed to be done, you are using a KWS. It's good for your budget as well.

How on earth can the normal scan not finish in the time the KWS is done? (rhetorical)

Now I understand that you want EVERY LAST BIT OF BOUNTY RIGHT NOW. But if he's down to 5% hull, just let it go. Seriously. There will be another.

Scanning Eagles and Sidewinders are a waste of time.

Then again... any RES instance that spawns sideys and eagles is a waste of time. It just so happens they occur 98% of the time. So... I guess RES is a waste of time 98% of the time, too.

The poor chap came here expecting sympathy for playing the game wrong, got petulant and insulting, and he has your admiration...

Just because people disagree with you does not make them fanboys. We explained to the OP how the mechanic worked in detail, but he doesn't want to adapt to the rules of the game, wants a different game presumably.

I'm sure he'll do himself no end of good by spamming support with tickets for something that's not a bug. Let's just hope he doesn't have genuine need for their help further down the line.

If a ship fires at you and hits you, then you don't have to scan before firing back. How do you know it's shooting at you if it doesn't hit you?

When I am interdited, pulled to normal space and it's just me and the other ship, who else could be shooting at me? When I simply interdict a clean ship, I get a bounty... so a NPC should automatically be wanted without waiting to be hit.

Not 100% sure, but I think that interdicting a clean ship gets you a fine, not a bounty.

Doing the required paperwork is the difference between being law-enforcement vs being a vigilante.

Even here in 21st century Earth society, the cops will hunt down vigilantes - it doesn't change anything that a vigilante only attacks people they believe to be bad guys. It doesn't even change anything if a vigilante happens to be correct that their target was criminal. They're still operating outside the law. They're still hunted by the law.

No matter how convinced you are that someone is a criminal, your only authority to kill them within the law comes from doing the required paperwork correctly. Every time. That makes sense to me. :)

You do not get a bounty for interdicting a clean ship, you get a fine.
