In all fairness dude, my setup is 3 46" TV's with trackIR (for DCS), it has been made completely redundant with VR. It's not even remotely close to experiencing everything in true size and depth. Everyone holding off consumer versions are in for a big treat.
Pretty much ruined gaming for me, prior to going the VR routes I thought trackIr and big screen TV's was the ultimate experience. Now I can only play VR compatible titles. It's like going from a game boy to a high end rig.
Still, big TV gaming is pretty awesome, I still have a PS4 hooked up to the big screen for fallout & GTA![]()
Have been drooling over a 55" Curved 4K Samsung for ages to replace all the monitors on my desktop... reckon the curve will add to the perceived FOV! Not sure how well it will work for photoshop and other desktop activities though![]()
Its almost like having free VR, just by carrying my TV from the living room into the computer room.
I just got a 32" 1080p monitor instead of spending more than twice as much and getting a 980Ti. I absolutely agree - it really makes a difference. I was previously using 3x24" 1080p monitors, which added a nice amount of peripherality to the experience, but having one massive monitor right in your face makes headtracking much smoother and allows me to up the quality settings without sacrificing 60fps vsynced.I just took the advice of a friend and tried plugging my PC into my 46" TV. Was previously using a 27" gaming monitor.
In a word: WOW.
Turns out I've been playing the game wrong for almost a year. Now I can see so much more, even at the same 1080 resolution. I am cleaning house in CQC. Exploration is a grand visual feast. And best of all, now that my screen is roughly "life-sized" I feel like I'm really in the cockpit! My stomach even drops when I buzz neutron stars or get too much air in my SRV. Head tracking works soooooo much better as well since I don't have to use my peripheral vision to look 90 deg anymore! I can just look at the top/right/left half of the screen! Actually look AT the screen to check my flanks. It's nothing short of game changing.

i recently got 28 4k samsung monitor-the problem with bigger monitor i have is that 1080 p resolution i used to play with looks washed out and almost blurry now
if i switch to 4k it does look amazing but my gtx 970 just doesnt cut it
i compared 4k and supersampling and i can say they about look the same-4k has more detail clarity on everything and 2.0 supersampling has a tiny almost unnoticeable difference but it take much less power and framerate doesnt go bad that much
This depends on your budget (Vive price isn't even out yet), your PC (CPU, GPU) and your expectations.Would you recommend the OR or HTC Vive?
But the scale is off and if you look around you dont see to the left or right. so VR IMHO is better
Yeah.... You have to have good gpu if you planing go 4k.... That's what mistakes ppl do.
Probably so, but if you set up the distance just right on a 46", the scale is pretty darn close.
