Give me ONE reason why I should buy XBONE version of E:D over a PC one

Yesterday I recieved this E-mail from our beloved Frontier team https://imgur.com/k682Cp0

I am asking devs or users for giving me ONE reason why I should buy Xbone version of E:D over a PC version ( let alone buying it second time)

I felt like Frontier devs think I complete idiot after recieving this e mail....

So FD can afford to make the PS4 version? So they can make the mobile version? There's two reasons, thank you for backing the PC game, you'll get a coupon for the F2P version.

It's almost like they've been planning a multiplatform release for quite some time. Imagine that.

Xbox version has saved me around £2000 quid, am away from my main PC whilst on business for 3/4 months. Seriously considered building another rig while I'm in the UK. Now I'll have an Xbox that can travel with me to hotels, no VR or HOTAS but it will work perfectly as a portable solution when I'm away from my Monster Rig

For this exact reason (transportability) I got myself a Mini ITX build. The board and case update costs less than 200 USD. You retain your full size CPU, memory, GPU and SSD. You may even keep your ATX PSU and one 3.5 HDD. The Cyborg FLY 5 can be folded and disassembled for easy transportation. No compromise.

XBONE - 33.3cm x 27.4cm x 7.9cm ~ 4kg
RVZ01 - 38.2cm x 35.0 cm x 10.5cm ~ 7kg loaded. Complies cabin bag specs.

Lately, I started to carry my wife around on my business trips instead of my PC. She is lot more entertaining...

I'll admit, I laughed when I saw this email.
"Buy this game again and we'll give you a fiver (redeemable at our online store)."

Disgusted with Frontier

"As a token of our appreciation for your continued support with the development of Elite: Dangerous we are delighted to be offering a £5 Gift Code, redeemable only on the Frontier Store (LINK HERE TO STORE)for customers who have purchased the game and who purchase Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One." So why am I disgusted.. well...more seriously raging. I purchased Elite as it entered beta for my PC. I do not, nor ever have I, possessed an Xbox of any description. Apparently Frontier are showing the PC fans their contempt for them by GIVING XBOX OWNERS £5. I had to read this offer a couple of time also to see if i had read it right!! "who have purchased the game and who purchase Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One." So you only get this £5 if you buy the PC version AND XBOX VERSION? Why in the nonsensical would I, a PC owner, do this? Has your company no connection at all to its customers except through its drive for sales of its goods? How disrespectful can you be? Not everyone owns a consol!! nor wants one!! Have you heard, or do you understand, the concept of customer loyalty? Elite Dangerous has raised £14.1 million with 300,000 players – £300 million expected by 2017 http://www.pcinvasion.com/elite-dan...h-300000-players-300-million-expected-by-2017 This was due to PC owners ALONE.. Where is your loyalty to these people? They have shown loyalty to you AND your product!!. If it was possible to get a refund I would. Sad thing is your support for the game has been remarkable, released content is amazing, player support is second to none but.. a huge BUT so how come you stab us in the back with this?

Wow..

All FD are doing is making a game and trying to sell it. Why do you think FD are trying to stab you in the back? Were you not present when FD gave a discounted price for a whole bunch of ship skins? Was that not enough? What more do you want for your money? I mean god forbid that a company wants to make money, or even God forbid that David Braben wants to provide more ways for people to play Elite!

You strike me as a spoiled little kid who doesnt want anyone else to have the game. You do know that there are console owners who don't have PC's? Not everyone wants to play ED the same way as you. Grow up and stop winging about nothing. Realise that there are other people who are different from you.

I am very happy with FD so far. I supported the game in Kickstarter, and although they couldn't provide EVERY little thing that they said, what they have brought out is amazing, and will continue to grow in size and scope for many years to come. The only drawback I see is if FD start pandering to people like you.

Smooches,
Brian :)

Exactly! Good point... Anyway... what about all us Alpha and (proper) Beta backers who forked out a fortune? You don't hear us complaining (overmuch) about it all do you? ;)

No. All FD are doing is trying to sell us the same game twice. Emailing people who've already bought the game with an "offer" to buy it again is a little insulting.

What more do you want for your money?

All I want for the nearly £200 I've paid in is the game they said they'd make. Not a bunch of minigames in space.

I mean god forbid that a company wants to make money, or even God forbid that David Braben wants to provide more ways for people to play Elite!

It's fine that they want to make money. But they're not entitled to money, they have to provide a viable product for it. They are trying to go to a quasi-multiplayer space shooter with this game, along with some tacked on minigames in order to get a wider audience. But the game will NEVER have mainstream appeal - it will NEVER stand up to AC or GTA or CoD or anything like that, and the game is structurally unsuitable for having yearly releases or even a new Elite every half decade. Each new Elite will be a true new game built from the ground up, they won't be able to re-use old assets like most triple-A games can, thus Elite will always be quite costly to produce. The only viable future for Elite, in my opinion, is to appeal to the hardcore space sim enthusiasts who will happily shell out a few hundred on a game like this.

If they want to make money they should reverse direction very quickly.

None. We have an XBox One where I work to test our code on. I downloaded the Elite preview. Trying to fly with a game pad is an . Unless they allow you to hook a flight stick up to your Xbox, it's not worth the time.

I play on PC with an xbox 360 controller, it's fine. I tried with a friends X52 and didn't like it.

And now we get to the real reason CQC is exclusive to XBone first, so everyone who is playing on PC and is too impatient to wait until Christmas will basically be conned into spending another £25.
Another great idea from David "Dollar" Braben.

How are they conned ? "buy this or your children will get a bad disease ? " or are you insinuating I will simply buy it because I 'am stupid or DB thinks I' am stupid/stupidly impatient ? Thanks for the insult !

<Points at the man in the cheap seats> ;)

If you can fork out £200 to BACK the game then you can fork out a little more if you're daft enough to buy a platform that's limited in functionality and that the PC can replicate and more.... Besides... If your aim is for the offspring to play on the Xbox and for you to play on the PC you'd still need two copies...

oh and on your quote about them making the game the game they said they'd make. I think you'll find that they said 'We'll make the game WE want to make'... Nothing specific has been said about what that entailed and there's loads more they're going to add you can guarantee it....

All in good time frankly... this is primarily a platform announcement rather than an announcement declaring we're doing CQC (or whatever) and that's it... There's no roadmap for our eyes and only FD know what's in store beyond this... Doomsaying is more than likely going to see you proven wrong at some stage down the line...

Although I don't agree with buying both versions if you already have the pc verion - could be kinda cool to have the option to play both when you wanted. Different situations/moods, etc. I am assuming you can log in on xbox with your original pc commander?

I don't think the offer was supposed to lure anyone in, based on how unimpressive of an offer it is. I think it was just a small gesture of gratitude. They didn't need to offer anything.

What he said! Repped you for a straightforward and to the point reply :)

I can think of a few that might apply to people:

* Simply want to
* Want to be in the living room
* Want to use the big TV the Xbox might be attached to
* Want to play CQC before Xmas
* XB1 more powerful than your PC.
* Want to play with Xbox friends that don't have PCs

You can get pretty much the same experience streaming from Steam, just saying. It seems hopelessly backward to release this game on console, especially since CQC's been announced.

As someone who runs games in Big Picture mode very frequently, E D doesn't seem to lend itself to a single controller very well at all compared to having a keyboard + mouse/joystick. I also highly doubt that E D will be a hit with the Xbone player base.

Of course, we can all just wait and see - it's just sad that this game was so good but has been completely derailed as of late IMO.

That said, CQC may help the Xbone version a lot, nearly as much as it dilutes the PC version for me. It's clear what kind of direction FD wants to go in.

As you have not read my post let me explain it to you in a simple form so you may, attempt, to understand.. The issue is that many PC owners bought the game, PC only owners and not PC + Console owners. In no way did I intone, hint, imply.. sorry too many complicated words for you there.. that 'It was my ball and you not getting to play with it'. Many PC owners helped launch the game, and now, XBOX owners are joining us. Nice. XBOX owners will get discounts in the Frontier shop like anyone else. Nice. You seemed to find it difficult to comprehend .. sorry using big words again...that PC owners, many who bought from kickstart to release, would have appreciated.. sigh there i go again with the complicated words.. liked this £5 voucher. Of course due to the economic environment... oh dear.. oops.. sorry Brian.. companies wanting to make money, which after all is why they exist, will bring out many incentives...there I go again...sweeties for people to buy their product. Now you stated that 'You do know that there are console owners who don't have PC's?' which proves that your empirical... what ahm I like.. sorry Brian..understanding, again, of what I posted. The deal from FD was for PC owners who ALSO BOUGHT the XBOX version.. not people who JUST OWN an XBOX. So let me try and explain Brian me ol thicket....The deal is for people who HAVE BOTH but MAINLY A PC to encourage them in purchasing BOTH VERSIONS. You seemed to have missed that bit. So you say I should grow up... you were the one who started insulting people, very adult...behaviour NOT. Did I say, also it was a bad game, hint or assume?... try and understand that bit Brian... NO. Did i insult FD? NO. Did I post angry that I was a PC owner who invested from Alpha who would have liked, as a PC ONLY OWNER, the £5 voucher? Yes as I believe PC only owners should receive this, it means to get.. Brian, as they were mainly instrumental.. no Brian it means nothing to do with trumpets and flutes.. in helping the game to release. PC AND XBOX owners if they bought both versions are entitled to receive the voucher like anyone else. *Huggles* Ipimus
