So, you guys aren't warming to the idea then?
That would be awesome! Or an FDLI want to launch a Python from a Cutter.
I find them quite useful, especially when taking on a large wing of tough ships; they can keep one of them busy for you. But for me they also add to the immersion plus they're quite fun.Have never really understood why the forums are generally opposed to the idea. I guess I don't use fighters enough, What huge advantage do they bring in PvP and PvE?
I have fighters installed on all my large multipurpose/mining/freighters ships, however they are not necessary at all for PvE, and I have not used them for PvP, essentially they are just a nice toy to have on-board a ship. I might use them to distract an enemy or if I want to drop into a RES or COMP nav Beacon to spice up a trade run.
Just struggling to see how they would make the Python OP? personally I'd take the cargo space on a Python over a fighter, you pretty much need all cargo racks to make the Python a half decent pure freighter, would maybe install a fighter on a multi purpose build.

Let's make the python great again.

Isn't that a bit like suggesting we should give the Corvette another pair of C4 hardpoints

As for the OP. I remember buying my Python and just sort of assuming that it would have an SLF and being really disappointed when I realised it didn't have one.
This where having varients would be nice - the ship kits are just cosmetic, if we could actually turn a mark 3 cobra into a 4 for instance that would be neat, or have a "stretch" Orca (like with 747 varients), heck even have say a sidewinder with just one large weapon strapped to it and nowt else etc etc.
it would even make sense for engineering to come into play as well - be an awful lot to implement and balance, but we can hope that we might see something like it one day
Said the same thing myself.
Personally, I wish there was some kind of "used ship dealer" in the game, where you could "gamble" on buying a used ship which might turn out to be a pile of junk or it might turn out to be a standard ship with some useful pre-engineered modules or, at best, might be a non-standard configuration.
Alternatively, perhaps they could be offered as rewards for completing an especially difficult series of chained missions?
But, the python would be sacrificing a 5 slot, and all that extra weight.
