Give Yamiks an Alpha key!

it still doesn't beat "references to terminal illness, ab-ortion, drug use, sexuality and other offensive topics" :ROFLMAO:

damn, such a hot show and nobody can direct me to just a few of the spicy nuggets!!

I can definitely attest to vewing all 0f the above stated items on Yamiks videos. And I have only watched maybe 5 or 6.

The content is definitely not corporate friendly. Can't imagine any reasonable company publicly endorsing them, could easily lead to much bigger PR issues.

Edit: Caress this new image system.
Forum filter working perfectly
Or maybe not.

And I cant say apparently according to another post? Proper name for .

Ehm... have you seen Yamiks' video when he actually DEFENDED FDevs for not including VR for the FPS portion of Odyssey?

Or his videos about the Python and the Imperial Cutter?

No, like I said I got bored very quickly of the personal childish insults and fake outrage so I stopped watching long before any mention of Odyssey, in fairness I did find his review of how Latvia is portrayed in video games quite funny at first, by the 5th game it was same old same old, but he had a point at least.

As a console peasant, I already have to wait until the end of the year and the YouTube videos these guys are going to release is what I'm waiting for
XB here and boycotting any YT vid that contains any EDO info before I get my hands on it. But I dont want spoilers and 'how to grind' knowledge before I get the actual game and play it. I can wait. Also dont want to see good gameplay ruined by 'make it easier' feedback and having no say in the matter its best if I just wait and see what the version is I will get and play it for what it is.

If the developers can look at a prominent member of Our community. One who has a subscriber base of over 100K, 1/5th of the entire player base on all systems and say to that person in plain english "we don't care about you" what do you think that means for the rest of us? Because subconsciously that's really what this discussion is really about.
It really isnt, its about someone thinking they are entitled to freebies because they make money off someone elses hard work.
Damnit. I'm gonna have to watch it now.
Do me a favour and post a reaction video calling it lazy and how he obviously hates YT and the game. In return Ill start a thread asking for a free key for you and demanding YT invite you to their banquet. Either way I wont watch it.

I don't see a reason for the drama over it.

Money and ego. Specifically the money the egotistical YTer was hoping to make by calling people stupid and lazy. They managed to find a way to make money off it anyway though so they must be really happy now. Perhaps they can now pay for their own game that they supposedly love....you know the same way the rest of us do.

I also demand a free key I've posted some bug report videos and have 10 followers.. Oh wait.. I am on console..... 😟

Me too. I suggest we all get together and demand a free key and a free PC to play it on. Then we can compromise and agree we will accept the Mk iv instead. :)

now ... yamiks should get his response together to this. this impasse is killing me ...

Check the Reddit post, he has publicised his reply, dunno if it was there originally. Be warned though, it comes across as extremely childish and entitled and a little bit like a kid having a tantrum or trying to bully someone, still without realising they have no power.

frontier and their devs are sort of public figures
Wrong again. Frontier is a public company and the CMs etc are paid to be public figures, the devs are people who work in an office usually at a computer, just like many other office workers. They may occasionally do Dev Diaries explaining their work but in no way are the public figures making money from public appearances. And even if they are they deserve to be treated like human beings.

damn, such a hot show and nobody can direct me to just a few of the spicy nuggets!!

Try asking one of the 100K subscribers he apparently has. Most people here seem to find him juvenile and dont watch.

i've seen a screenshot with both replies. yes that was very weak and knee jerk. but he basically claims that the accusations are way out of proportion, which i agree with (until someone actual walks the talk and proves me wrong!).

most are anonymous and as such so they can't really feel directly attacked except as a collective. which again will never be something "personal". e.g. if i say that "frontier's qa is pathetic" we all know what i'm talking about, but i'm not saying anything about any of the individual persons in the qa team, if there even exists such. i'm sure they won't like to hear it, and they might disagree, but it's still not an insult or an attack.
and a few of them promote themselves to public personas, be it because of their job description or simply because they choose to do so. if they do so on the behalf of their position in frontier then yes, i would consider them pretty much public figures in this context and as such they should be able to take some flak. again, what type of flak are we talking about? that's what i'm asking about. people have mentioned "stupid", "idiot" ... dunno what to do with that :)

Except all the actual critics get the pre-screening. Yamiks is Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. He'll have to sit in the cinema with the rest of us losers before he gets to call it the worst movie EVER.
Yamiks is “the actual critics”. Sorry if that fact threatens you. If Comic Book Guy had an audience the size of Yamiks’, then OH HECK YEAH it would be expected for studios to include him in the pre-screening.

Anyway, better cartoon comparison is probably Jay Sherman from “The Critic”:

The point is that Fdev flips the bird toward a creator that is critical. That's not how it works. The developers and the creators feed upon one another in some weird form of symbiosis, which I guess Fdev are gonna learn the hard way now. For most content creators getting samples is also a question of being up front. Not in this case, but it's just a stupid signal from Fdev, and a signal it is.
So whats the difference between "Core Creators" and the other "Creators" ?
Could it be a large Kissing Sound ?

I just watched a Yamiks YT vid this morning where he advised he received an official response from FD, turning him down when he requested an Alpha key to review Odyssey for his subscribers. Apparently they have limited Alpha keys reserved for their “ core content creators and the press”. He has 101k subscribers and is one of “THE” core content providers! He is not the largest but certainly in the top group. If this doesn’t send up a red flag about FD’s possible lack of confidence in their product I don’t know what does. Give the man a key! Yes he is more critical about the game than other creators but balanced reporting should be promoted.
While I agree with the core of his argument, the video overall was just a bit of a whingefest and not quite worthy of his style. Not that I've watched a lot of his content, not a big fan of the presentation style although the core points he makes are generally reasonable, if a little biased towards the negative aspects.

The reply from FDev was a bit laughable (restricted number of keys etc) and I also firmly believe in supporting a balanced media, but this is a business and it is up to FDev who they decide to support via free keys. Yamiks' presentation style is, to put it mildly, controversial, and I can fully understand why a company might not want to be seen to be associated or supportive of such content. Although Yamiks claims he was supported in the past so it seems that FDev have changed their stance about him in which case it's only fair that they should have been upfront and honest with him in their reply.

Anyway, it is a private company decision, not a democratic vote, and it seems that they have their reasons.
